Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Pendant light

Dinner in a circle of amber light

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

Light that gathers the table.

Each pendant begins as one solid teak blank. The maker studies its contours first, hollows the body, and sands it by hand so the bulb warms the wood from the inside out. It arrives fully wired with the bulb in the box; only the outlet plug is left off, so you fit the pattern your wall takes.

Most dining rooms make do with the builder's flush-mount — bright enough, warm never. Hung low over the table, this pendant pulls plates, faces, and conversation into one amber circle, and by daylight it reads as hanging sculpture. No two blanks share a contour, so no other table in the country eats under this exact light.

  • Casts one focused, warm pool over the dining table
  • Reads as hanging sculpture in daylight
  • Arrives fully wired, bulb in the box
  • At home over dining tables, kitchen islands, and breakfast nooks
  • One-of-a-kind blank — no second pendant repeats this grain

It fits real homes.

Tuesday pasta

Tuesday pasta

An ordinary weeknight dinner sits differently under carved teak — the glow lands amber on the plates, and a Tuesday feels properly set without anyone lighting a candle.

Homework hours

Homework hours

Four o'clock on a school day, dishes cleared, notebooks out. The pendant holds a steady pool of warm light over long division until dinner reclaims the table at six.

Friendsgiving overflow

Friendsgiving overflow

Mid-November potluck: seven friends around a table built for six, every dish somebody's specialty. The pendant keeps the whole crowded table inside one circle of light, and the wishbone gets pulled anyway.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Even, unhurried grain wraps the pendant's body, so the raw organic form carries a calm figure — and when the bulb is on, the grain lines read like contours on a map.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak's natural oils run deep in the blank. Hand-finishing deepens the outer surface to a warm satin that glows faintly amber even before the switch is touched — and it smells of wood, not varnish.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

Dry heat rises off a lit bulb every evening, and teak — near 700 kilograms per cubic meter, with half oak's shrinkage — holds its carved shape in the one spot where dryness never lets up.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

Indoors over a dining table, the golden tone deepens gracefully with the years rather than fading. An occasional wipe of oil along the body keeps the surface rich under the evening light.

Golden now, silver whenever

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

Each blank comes off a twenty-day kiln cycle before it is chosen for form and figure — a body that will live over a warm bulb has to be fully, evenly dry.

The shaping process

The shaping process

The maker follows the blank's own lines, hollowing the body and cutting the light opening slightly conservative — leaving material for the handwork to refine.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

Inside and out, the body passes through five grits of sandpaper by hand until the raw texture reads intentional, never rough.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Wiring is fitted and burned in on the bench, oil buffed in thin coats. The maker checks the glow against a wall, the hang, and the finish before it leaves the workshop.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

Does it hang from the ceiling?
Yes — it is a ceiling pendant. The hollowed body hangs from a canopy over a standard junction box on a discreet cord, so the bulb warms the teak from the inside and casts one amber circle on the table below. Mounting hardware for the piece comes in the box.
Is it hardwired or plug-in?
The listing states which, and it is confirmed before shipping. Wiring is done to US standards. For a hardwired fixture, a licensed electrician is the safe way to connect it at the ceiling box, dropping the carved body low over the table where it belongs.
Does it come with a bulb, and what kind?
Yes. The bulb type is on the listing, and the pendant ships with the bulb specified — often a warm Edison or LED that lights the grain from within. A cool-running LED keeps heat off the hollowed wood, so the body glows without drying at the socket.
Can the hanging height be changed?
For a ceiling pendant the cord can be shortened at installation to hang the body where you want it over the table. Scale can be adjusted at order as well, since each piece is carved after the order lands — tell us your ceiling height and table size and we will match it to the room.
Will the carved wood dry out or crack near the bulb?
No. Each blank comes off a twenty-day kiln cycle, chosen by selectors with thirty years at the stacks, so the teak is fully and evenly dry before it is hollowed. That is the one spot where dryness never lets up, and dense teak paired with a cool LED holds its carved shape there season after season.
