Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Wall sculpture

Tree roots, carved into wall art

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

The wall piece that casts its own moving shadows.

This sculpture begins as naturally formed teak roots, twisted by decades of growth. Our designers study each tangle for its strongest lines; an artisan then cleans, joins, and hand-sands the composition so the intertwined forms read clearly from across the room. It is solid root wood the whole way through — carved depth and real shadow, not a printed panel or a resin cast.

A framed print flattens against the wall and disappears; the largest blank wall in the house deserves something with weight. Hung over a sofa or bed, this gives it three dimensions — no two pieces repeat, so the tangle you receive exists nowhere else on earth. That is the point of buying one-of-one, and the story of where the roots grew becomes yours to tell.

  • Big empty wall? Fills it where a print cannot
  • Real depth — casts shifting daylight shadows
  • Anchors sofa, bed, or entry sightlines
  • One-of-a-kind roots; no two pieces repeat
  • Hangs flat with workshop-fitted hardware

It fits real homes.

Four o'clock shadows

Four o'clock shadows

When the afternoon sun rakes the wall around four, the twisted forms throw slow-moving shadows that redraw themselves until dusk. The piece performs daily and nobody plugs it in — and by a south window the teak deepens a shade over its first summer rather than fading.

The reach test

The reach test

First-time visitors do the same thing at the housewarming: stop mid-sentence, step closer, and run a finger along one root to confirm it is real wood. It always is — the density surprises the hand, and the question of who made it follows a beat later.

Over the headboard

Over the headboard

Saturday, 8 am, low autumn sun climbing the bedroom wall. Last thing seen at lights-out, first thing in the morning, the tangle above the bed reads differently at each hour the way a window does. Nobody is going anywhere for another hour.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Between the wild twists, each root section carries teak's tight, even grain — a calm surface that lets the sculpture's movement do the talking, and warms honey to caramel where the light lands most.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak carries its own natural oils. We hand-rub more into every curve and hollow, deepening the golden tone to a warm satin that never feels like plastic — and opens smelling faintly sweet, like a woodshop, not chemicals.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

At roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, with some of the lowest shrinkage of any hardwood, the sculpted roots hold their exact form season after season — no gapping when the furnace dries the room to 20 percent in January.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

In hard direct sun, teak drifts toward silver-grey — a surface change only, a paper-thin layer. A light sanding and fresh oil bring the sculpture back to gold anytime, so the look stays a choice, not a fate.

Golden now, silver whenever

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

Root sections are chosen one at a time for movement, soundness, and figure, then dried in the kiln so the wood has finished moving. Cracked or lifeless stock never becomes a sculpture.

The shaping process

The shaping process

The composition is laid out, then trimmed slightly proud of its final silhouette, leaving material for the handwork that resolves each curve.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

Every root face and hollow is sanded by hand through successive grits until the twists feel smooth against an open palm.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Oil goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. The maker checks hanging hardware, balance, and finish before the piece is signed out.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

What is the wall art made from?
This sculpture is built from genuine teak root sections, cleaned, joined, and hand-finished — solid wood the whole way, so the piece has real depth and shadow, not a printed pattern or a resin cast. Each composition is one of a kind.
Can a piece be scaled to my wall?
Yes — dimensions scale to your wall since each piece is made to order. Send a photo of the space with rough measurements and we will suggest proportions, then share a photo of your actual piece before it ships.
How does it hang?
Hanging hardware is fitted at the workshop — keyhole slots or French cleats chosen by the piece's weight — with matching anchors in the box. Most pieces hang on two screws into studs, and a template locates them.
Does wooden wall art need maintenance?
Almost none — dust with a soft dry brush or cloth, and keep it off a wall with hard afternoon sun so the tone shifts evenly. No re-oiling year to year unless you want to; teak protects itself with its own oils and silica.
How does wall art ship?
Each piece is made to order and ships flat in a rigid, foam-lined carton with the hardware taped inside. Tracking is emailed once the carton ships; if it arrives damaged, photograph the box and we make it right.
