Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Wall art

A wall that moves with daylight

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

A wall relief that changes with the daylight.

The undulating lines were tested against morning and evening sun before a single board was cut. Artisans then carve solid teak layer by layer — wood that finished its moving in a twenty-day kiln, which is what lets a panel this size hang flat for decades — and sand each ridge until the surface truly flows.

The wall above a sofa usually gets a mass-printed canvas that stops being seen within a month of hanging. Carved relief does not disappear: shadows travel the ridges all day, the piece reads new at every hour, and the owner keeps catching versions of it nobody else will ever see. Big walls deserve depth, not another flat rectangle.

  • Anchors the wide wall above a sofa or sideboard
  • Real carved depth — shadows move with the daylight
  • Softens hard-edged modern rooms with organic lines
  • Reads from across the room and from inches away
  • Hangs on fitted hardware; upkeep is a dusting

It fits real homes.

Saturday, eight a.m.

Saturday, eight a.m.

Between eight and ten the sun crosses the ridges and rewrites the shadows as it goes. Coffee in hand, you catch a version of the carving that will not repeat until the season does.

Television off

Television off

Late evening, one lamp on. The eye leaves the dark screen and settles on the carved flow above the console — the room's built-in place to let the day drain off.

The 8:58 question

The 8:58 question

Nearly every video call, the same interruption before the agenda: what is that behind you? Hand-carved teak turns out to be a better backdrop answer than a bookshelf ever was.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Tight, straight grain follows every flowing ridge across the panel, and side light from a window turns the figure almost topographic — the calm consistency collectors ask for by name.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak's own oils meet hand-rubbed coats across the carved contours, leaving a low satin that catches lamplight softly instead of glaring back at the room.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

Roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, with shrinkage about half of oak's — the panel hangs flat through furnace winters that pull indoor humidity into the twenties.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

Indoors the relief deepens toward honey-amber; silvering needs outdoor sun and rain. A light sanding and fresh oil bring the gold back to the crests anytime.

Golden now, silver whenever

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

Boards are pulled one at a time and matched by tone across the panel, kiln-dried stock only. Twisted, checked, or dull-figured wood never makes the cut.

The shaping process

The shaping process

The flowing lines are carved slightly proud of the pattern, leaving material for the handwork that gives each ridge its final rise.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

Every ridge and hollow is sanded by hand through five grits until the surface flows without a single hard edge.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Oil goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. The maker fits the hanging hardware and checks the panel flat on a bench before packing.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

What is the wall art made from?
Solid teak boards, carved in relief — real depth and real shadow, not a printed pattern. Nothing here is veneer or MDF; the ridges are cut from the same wood you see on the surface, so the piece can even be re-sanded decades on.
Can a piece be scaled to my wall?
Yes — dimensions scale to your wall since each piece is made to order. Send a photo of the space with rough measurements and we will suggest proportions.
How does it hang?
Hanging hardware is fitted at the workshop — keyhole slots or French cleats by weight — with matching anchors in the box. Most pieces hang on two screws.
Does wooden wall art need maintenance?
Dust with a soft dry brush or cloth. Keep it off walls with hard, direct afternoon sun — indoor teak deepens gracefully with age, and even light keeps that shift even. Nothing else is required year to year.
How does wall art ship?
Each piece is made to order and ships flat in a rigid, foam-lined carton with the hardware taped inside. If the carton arrives crushed, photograph it before the driver leaves and we make it right; tracking is emailed at dispatch.
Which wall placement shows the flowing design best?
A wall that gets side light — from a window or a nearby lamp — lets the ridges cast the moving shadows the piece was carved for. Above a sofa, console, or dining table at eye level is the classic placement.
