Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Tree coat stand

A tree standing by the door

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

The entryway gets a piece the tree already designed.

Every stand starts as natural teak branches an artisan gathers and studies one by one, keeping the reach and taper the tree grew on its own. The limbs are solid wood through — no hollow dowels to snap under a wet parka — cleaned, fitted to the trunk, sanded smooth at every hanging point, and oiled by hand.

The entry is where a family's day begins and ends, and where clutter usually wins: coats over the banister, bags on the floor, one boot always missing. Set beside the front door or in the mudroom corner, this carries the whole household on real branches. It threads together in minutes, not a lost afternoon of wordless diagrams — and hanging a jacket on grown wood never quite stops feeling good.

  • Coats piling on chairs? Branches hold hats, scarves, bags
  • Stands in a corner — no wall drilling
  • Keeps daily outerwear off chairs and banisters
  • Reads as sculpture even standing empty
  • Works in entryway, mudroom, or bedroom corner

It fits real homes.

The 7:45 grab

The 7:45 grab

Backpacks zipped, two coats pulled from the low branches, one scarf off the high one. The school run leaves on time because everything hung where it landed yesterday, and the clutter stops at the door instead of spreading down the hall.

Coats at the door

Coats at the door

Mid-November, friends arrive stamping cold for the potluck, and their parkas go onto branches instead of a bed upstairs. The stand takes the whole party's outerwear, damp shoulders and all, and still reads as sculpture between the boots below.

Leash and hat

Leash and hat

A sixty-pound dog knows the sound of the leash lifting off its branch and is at the door before you are. Rain hat above it, gloves below — the entire evening walk hangs on one limb, and paws hit the base without a wobble to grow into.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Along the trunk and each branch, teak's tight, even grain follows the wood's own direction of growth, so the figure agrees with the form — warm honey where the entry light catches it.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak carries its own natural oils. We hand-rub more into the trunk and every hanging limb, deepening the golden tone to a warm satin that never feels like plastic, smooth and cool under the hand each morning.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

At roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, with some of the lowest shrinkage of any hardwood, the branches hold their set under winter coats through a dry forced-air season without loosening at the joints.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

By a sunny doorway, teak drifts toward silver-grey over the years — a surface change only, a paper-thin layer. A light sanding and fresh oil bring the trunk back to gold anytime you decide it is time.

Golden now, silver whenever

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

Branches are chosen one at a time for reach, strength, and character, then dried in the kiln so the wood has finished moving. Cracked or brittle limbs never become hanging points.

The shaping process

The shaping process

Limbs are fitted to the trunk and trimmed slightly proud of their final length, leaving material for the handwork at every tip.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

Trunk, branch tips, and base are sanded by hand through successive grits until every hanging point feels smooth against an open palm — no snag to catch a coat lining.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Oil goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. The maker loads the branches, checks the stance for balance, and signs the piece out.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

Are the racks really shaped like trees?
Each tree coat rack is shaped from solid teak — some from single branching trunks — sanded smooth and finished so coats hang on real limbs rather than plastic pegs. No two are alike, because the branches are the tree's own.
What heights and branch counts are available?
Heights and branch counts are made to order. A six-foot rack with eight branches handles a family entry; slimmer builds suit apartments. Each one differs slightly, on purpose — tell us your ceiling and your daily coat count.
How does it stay upright under a load of coats?
Racks arrive in one or two sections that thread together in minutes — no wordless diagrams, no leftover screw. The weighted base keeps things planted, and a discreet wall strap is included for busy households; hang the heaviest coats on the lower limbs for the steadiest stance.
How do I care for it?
Dust the branches with a dry cloth and let wet coats drip on a mat first when you can. A yearly wipe of oil keeps the trunk rich; skip harsh sprays, which strip teak's own oils. Teak has weathered ship decks for centuries, so a little entry damp is nothing to it.
How is a tall piece like this shipped?
Every rack is made to order and shipped in a tall padded carton with the base packed at the bottom. Tracking follows by email the day it leaves; photograph the carton before the driver goes, and if anything arrived damaged we make it right.
How much can one stand actually hold?
A family's daily rotation: heavy winter coats on the strong lower limbs, hats and scarves higher up, bags and a leash on the shorter branches. Hang the heaviest items lowest for the steadiest stance.
