Natural grain. Finished by hand.

The form of this sconce body is shaped by natural grain, then its visible wood surfaces are refined and finished by hand.

Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Driftwood teak · Wall sconce

Light that remembers where it drifted

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

A sconce built from wood the water shaped first.

The designers let the driftwood lead: a 39-inch weathered length, studied until the light sat where the wood wanted it. An artisan then selects each piece for its water-worn figure, fits the shade and wiring by hand, and finishes the surface so the years of current still show.

On a bedroom or hallway wall, it changes the hour after sunset. This is real driftwood teak, not a molded resin copy — no two bodies repeat, so the piece on your wall is the only one of its kind. The glow rakes across the water-worn ridges, the room goes soft, and guests ask about the wood before the light.

  • 39-inch driftwood span reads as wall art unlit
  • Soft ambient glow for bedrooms and hallways
  • Frees nightstand space a table lamp would take
  • Shade, bulb, and cord included
  • No two driftwood bodies repeat

It fits real homes.

The wind-down switch

The wind-down switch

Overheads off, sconce on. The driftwood throws long, warm shadows across the bedroom wall, and the day officially downgrades to a book and one more chapter.

The hallway at midnight

The hallway at midnight

A glass of water at 2 a.m., and the sconce's low glow walks you down the hall without waking anyone. The house feels kept, even in the dark.

Dinner's second act

Dinner's second act

Plates cleared, one lamp too bright for the mood. The sconce takes over, the driftwood catches the light sideways, and the conversation runs another hour.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Tight, straight teak grain runs beneath the weathered surface — the calm figure that survives years of water and still reads clearly in raking lamplight.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak carries its own natural oils — the reason driftwood teak endures at all. We hand-rub more into the sconce body, warming the tone without hiding the water-worn texture.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

At roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, teak is dense enough that years in salt water only silvered the surface — the mounted body holds its shape on the wall, no warp around the wiring, no sag in a coastal bedroom's open-window summer air.

Golden now, silver whenever

Driftwood arrives already silvered by water and sun. Leave the weathered grey as found, or a light oiling deepens the body toward gold — either suits the lamplight.

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

Driftwood pieces are chosen one at a time for figure and soundness. Cracked or lifeless stock never becomes a lamp.

The shaping process

The shaping process

The mounting face and shade seat are cut slightly proud of the line — leaving material to fit each unique piece by hand.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

Edges are eased through successive grits until the body feels right in the hand while keeping its weathered surface.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Wiring, shade, and bulb are fitted and lit at the bench. The maker checks the glow before the sconce ships.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

How is the sconce made and mounted?
The body is shaped from a single length of driftwood teak, wired by hand, and finished so the water-worn grain still shows. It mounts to the wall with the bracket and hardware included; hardwired, it meets a wall box behind the body, and as a plug-in a discreet cord runs to the outlet.
Is it hardwired or plug-in?
The listing states which, confirmed before shipping, and it comes wired to US standards. A plug is not attached, so plan on fitting one to match your outlet, or have a licensed electrician wire a hardwired sconce into the wall box for a concealed run.
What comes in the box?
The sconce arrives with its shade, bulb, and cord already fitted, plus the mounting hardware sized for the 39-inch body. The bulb is a warm LED noted on the listing; it runs cool, so the light sits close to the driftwood without drying it.
Old driftwood — will it crack or bring anything into the house?
A fair question about any found wood. Before it is wired, each driftwood piece is chosen by selectors with thirty years at the stacks and run through a twenty-day kiln cycle at controlled heat — hot enough that insects or eggs in the old grain do not survive, dry enough that the body will not split once it is warm indoors and lit. Water-worn on the outside, fully stable within, and steady right around the bulb.
Can the proportions be matched to my wall?
Yes — each sconce is built after you order, so its scale suits the wall you have, from a living-room feature to a narrow hallway run. Because the body is real driftwood, no two repeat, and we share a photo of the actual piece before it is finished.
How does it ship?
Every sconce is made to order and packs in a foam-fitted box with the shade, wiring, and driftwood cradled so nothing shifts in transit. It arrives ready to hang; tracking is sent the day it ships, and if the carton lands crushed, photograph it before opening and we make it right.
