Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Wall art

Waves carved by hand into one board

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

A circle of teak, carved until the grain begins to move.

The designer drew these wave lines dozens of times before one set felt right at wall scale — close enough to catch shadow, open enough to breathe. Then a carver took one solid teak board, thick enough to cut deep relief without ever reaching a veneer core, and followed the grain instead of fighting it, ridge by ridge.

Most wood wall art is a printed panel that goes flat the second you stand beside it. This one throws real shadow — afternoon sun rakes the ridges and the whole disc shifts, then settles under lamplight. The pride is quiet and specific: a person carved that, and no second disc will ever repeat this grain.

  • Fills a bare wall above a sofa, bed, or console
  • Carved relief throws real shadow, not a printed flat pattern
  • Round form softens a room full of straight lines
  • Hangs on two screws with the fitted hardware included
  • One carved piece replaces a whole cluttered gallery wall

It fits real homes.

Four o'clock light

Four o'clock light

Sunday, a little past four. The west window drops low and rakes across the carved ridges, and for half an hour the living room runs its own slow show — long shadows crossing the disc, no screen on, the lamp not yet needed.

The reach test

The reach test

It happens at every dinner party. A guest drifts over mid-conversation, lifts a hand, and traces two fingers down a carved groove. Then the question the host quietly likes: who made this. Made to order, you get to say, carved by hand.

Above the sofa, settled

Above the sofa, settled

Fourth apartment in six years, and the walls keep arriving landlord-beige. The sculpture goes up the first evening, and the blank rental wall finally reads as theirs. Leases end; the carved teak circle just moves to the next nail.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Tight, straight, even teak grain runs across the full carved face, so the wave pattern does the talking, not busy figure. Trace a ridge and the wood stays cool and smooth under a fingertip — the calm, consistent stock collectors ask for by name.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak carries its own natural oils. We hand-rub more into every ridge and hollow of the relief, deepening the golden tone to a warm satin. Open the carton and the piece smells faintly of a woodshop, not of chemicals — there is nothing here to off-gas.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

Boards are chosen by selectors with thirty years at the lumber stacks, then dried twenty days in a controlled kiln — the wood finishes its moving before it is ever carved. At roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, the disc hangs flat and true through a dry forced-air winter.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

Hang it out of hard, direct afternoon sun and indoor teak simply deepens toward honey-amber; it will not go silver-grey without outdoor UV and rain. If a sun-facing wall ever lightens it over years, a light sanding and fresh oil bring the carved face back to gold.

Golden now, silver whenever

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

After the kiln, teak boards are pulled one at a time for even tone across the circle and tapped for soundness. Stock with twist, checks, or dull figure never makes the cut.

The shaping process

The shaping process

The circle is band-sawn round, the wave pattern traced from a full-size template, then carved slightly proud of the line — leaving material for the handwork to come.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

Each carved groove is worked by hand through five grits until every ridge feels right against an open palm, not merely looks right under shop lights.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Oil goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. The maker checks the relief, the flush-mount hanger, and the finish before signing it out of the workshop.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

What is the wall art made from?
Solid teak, carved from a single board — not a printed veneer panel over MDF. You can read it in raking light: real ridges throw real shadow where a printed pattern stays dead flat. The relief can be re-oiled for decades; a printed sheet cannot be touched up at all.
Can a piece be scaled to my wall?
Yes — dimensions scale to your wall since each piece is made to order. Send a photo of the space with rough measurements and we will suggest proportions before the carving starts.
How does it hang?
Hanging hardware is fitted at the workshop — keyhole slots or French cleats chosen by weight — with matching anchors in the box. Most pieces hang on two screws and sit flush to the wall.
Does wooden wall art need maintenance?
Dust it with a soft dry brush or cloth, and keep it off a wall that takes hard afternoon sun so the honey tone deepens evenly rather than on one side. Indoors teak will not silver — that needs outdoor UV and rain. Nothing else is required year to year.
How does wall art ship?
Each piece is made to order and ships flat in a rigid, foam-lined carton with the hardware taped inside. Tracking is emailed to you once the carton ships.
Will the carved wave pattern match the photos exactly?
The wave pattern is carved to the same design, but because each disc is cut from its own teak board, grain and tone vary piece to piece. Yours will be recognizably the design shown — and the only one exactly like it.
