Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Office desk

Sculpture on one side, files the other

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

One side sculpture, one side storage.

The designers balanced this desk on an asymmetry: a sweeping curved base on one side, a practical drawer unit on the other, a broad rectangular top spanning both. It is built from solid teak blocks joined by hand, each block kiln-dried twenty days before glue-up — and because that base cannot be flat-packed, the desk ships in parts and bolts together on arrival. Two people, half an hour, no wordless diagrams.

A desk is the surface you touch more hours than anything else you own — eight a day, most weeks of the year. Cost it per working hour over a decade and the arithmetic goes quiet. The joined-block top takes keyboards, elbows, and tax-season piles without flexing, and it sands back to new the year you finally scratch it.

  • Broad top seats a dual-monitor setup with room to write
  • Drawer side files papers; curved side stays open for legs
  • Joined-block teak — no flex under a full workday
  • Finished on all faces; no wall needed
  • Bolts together in half an hour, two people

It fits real homes.

Half hour, two people

Half hour, two people

Two cartons come off the truck heavier than expected — a good sign. Half an hour of pre-fitted bolts later, the curve stands where the folding table lived, and the four o'clock call gets taken from real wood.

Homework hour, shared

Homework hour, shared

Four p.m., you take the drawer side, she takes the open end with her math workbook. The wide top holds two people's worth of concentration until dinner.

The April spread

The April spread

Receipts sorted into piles across the full width of the top, laptop in the middle, coffee at the corner. Tax season is unpleasant everywhere, but less so at a desk built like this.

Made to order

Every piece is made to order, and dimensions vary from one to the next. Need a different size for your space? Tell us your measurements and we'll build it to fit.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Tight, straight grain runs across the joined blocks of the top, shifting tone slightly at each glue line — proof of real boards chosen one at a time, not a printed pattern repeating.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak carries its own natural oils. We hand-rub more into the top and the curved base — under a resting wrist the surface reads warm and dry even when the AC has cycled all August.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

At roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, each block kiln-dried for twenty days before joining, the top stays flat under a full workday through every heating season.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

Indoors and oiled yearly, the desk holds its gold for decades, deepening a shade where the sun crosses it. If the worksurface ever tires, a light sanding and fresh oil bring it back to new.

Golden now, silver whenever

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

Solid blocks are pulled one at a time, matched by tone and grain, and numbered for their position before glue-up. Twisted or dull stock never makes the cut.

The shaping process

The shaping process

The curved base is traced from templates, then bandsawn slightly proud of the line — leaving material for the handwork that fairs the sweep.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

Top, curve, and drawer fronts pass through five grades of sandpaper by hand until every edge feels right against an open palm.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Oil goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. The maker bolts the desk together, checks joints, drawer glide, and level, then disassembles it for safe transit.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

What kind of wood are the desks built with?
Solid teak blocks joined by hand — top, curve, and drawer unit — with no veneer, MDF, or particleboard anywhere. That is why the worksurface can be sanded and refinished for decades instead of replaced.
Can I customize dimensions or add cable management?
Each desk is built to order, so width, depth, and height adjust to your room and chair. Standing-height builds and cable grommets can be added when you order.
How hard is assembly?
To travel safely, this desk ships in separate parts — top, curved base, and drawer unit — that join with pre-fitted bolts on arrival. Plan on two people and about half an hour with the included key; it was assembled once at the workshop, so every bolt already knows its hole.
How should I treat the worksurface?
Use a desk pad if you like a flawless surface, or let the marks accrue honestly — an oil finish spot-repairs: fine sandpaper on the mark, a wipe of oil, ten minutes. Otherwise a damp cloth and one re-oil a year.
How does a desk arrive?
Desks ship made to order with the top and base packed separately in padded cartons, hardware bagged to the frame. Tracking covers every box; photograph any dented carton before signing and we make damage right.
