Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

The face follows the wood, not the reverse: an irregular carved silhouette, minimal markers, contrasting hands. Our designers pared the dial back so the grain does the talking, and the artisan carves the whole face from one slab of solid teak — no veneer, no glued-up panel — then sands it until light travels across the contours.

Most wall decor this size is a printed skin over board, made by the thousand. This one is cut and carved from a single piece, its grain running unbroken across the dial and its silhouette shared with no other clock. Guests step closer to check the hour and stay to look — and you get to say it was carved from one slab of teak.

Grain that reads quiet

Tight, straight, even grain runs unbroken across the carved face — the calm figure that keeps the hands and hour markers legible at a glance, so the wood can carry the drama and the time stays easy to read.

The finish nature applied

Teak carries its own natural oils. We hand-rub more into the carved surface, deepening the golden tone so the contours catch a warm satin glow — and it hangs smelling like wood, not the chemical note of a factory-sprayed dial.

Density you can feel

At roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, with shrinkage about half that of oak, the slab face hangs flat and true through a forced-air winter that drops the room to 20 percent humidity and a muggy August that swings it back.

Golden now, silver whenever

Indoors the dial slowly deepens toward richer honey-amber; it will not go gray without outdoor sun and rain. A light sanding and fresh oil return the face to its first gold whenever you want it back.

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

Slabs are pulled one at a time by selectors with thirty years at the stacks, chosen for tone and unbroken figure across the face, then dried twenty days in a temperature-controlled kiln. Stock with twist, checks, or dull grain never makes the cut.

The shaping process

The free-form silhouette is traced from templates, then bandsawn slightly proud of the line, leaving material for the carving that gives the face its movement.

The hand refinement

The carved contours are sanded by hand through successive grits until every ridge feels smooth under a fingertip, not merely looks smooth from below.

The final inspection

Oil goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. The maker fits and tests the movement and hands before the clock is signed out.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

What is the clock face made from?

Each face is cut from a single slab of solid teak, so the grain runs unbroken across the dial — no veneer, no printed skin over board. Hands and movement are fitted and tested at the workshop before it ships.

What sizes can I order?

Diameters typically run 12 to 30 inches, and because each clock is made to order we can size the face to your wall — over a mantel, in a stairwell, above a desk. Tape a paper circle to the wall first to judge the scale.

How does it hang, and what powers it?

Each clock has a recessed keyhole hanger and ships with the correct anchor for drywall or masonry. One screw, level it, done. The movement runs on a single AA battery.

Any care tips for a wooden clock?

Dust the face with a dry cloth and keep it off walls with hard afternoon sun so the tone deepens evenly. The movement is a standard replaceable part, swapped in minutes if it ever tires — nothing to off-gas, nothing to refinish.

How is a clock packaged?

Clocks are made to order and ship in rigid, foam-lined boxes with the hands protected by a spacer and packed like it matters. Tracking arrives by email the day the box leaves the workshop.

Will my clock's carved shape match the photos exactly?

Closely, but not identically — each face is carved along the natural flow of its own slab, so the contours and grain differ slightly piece to piece. That is the proof it was made one at a time, not stamped out. The vertical format, dial layout, and hands stay as pictured.
