Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Pendant light

Light and shadow, shaped in teak

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

A wooden form that shapes the light around it.

The flowing frame was drawn to do two jobs at once: read as carving by day and cast deliberate shadow by night. An artisan shapes solid teak by hand — kiln-dried through twenty slow days so the contours hold their line overhead for good — then wires the fixture completely, bulb included, lit on the bench before it ships.

Every rental and new build comes with the same frosted ceiling dome, and every room under one feels provisional. Swap it for a carved form and the ceiling stops being leftover space: the glow lands warm and uneven in the best way, and the room finally reads like it belongs to somebody in particular — you.

  • Anchors a living room, lounge, or dining area from above
  • Casts warm, sculpted light and moving shadow at night
  • Reads as a carved form even switched off
  • Arrives fully wired and bench-tested, bulb included
  • Solid teak frame, sanded and oiled entirely by hand

It fits real homes.

Dark at 4:45

Dark at 4:45

A December afternoon that ends before the workday does. The pendant comes on, the ceiling fills with curved shadow, and the early dark turns from a complaint into an atmosphere.

Forty pages, Tuesday

Forty pages, Tuesday

Ten p.m., one chair, the day's last chapter. Warm light pools over the armrest while the carved frame above holds perfectly still, and the rest of the apartment fades politely away.

The fixture swap

The fixture swap

First weekend in the new house, the builder-grade dome comes down and the teak goes up. One hour with an electrician, and the living room stops looking like the listing photos.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Tight, straight grain follows the frame's flowing contours and reads differently lit and unlit — the calm, consistent figure that made teak the wood collectors ask for by name.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak's own oils meet hand-rubbed coats along every contour, settling into a warm satin the evening light sinks into rather than bounces off.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

About 700 kilograms per cubic meter, with shrinkage near half that of oak — the frame holds its curves overhead through dry furnace winters and damp summers alike.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

Indoors teak deepens toward honey-amber; the silver-grey takes outdoor sun and rain a ceiling fixture will never meet. A light wipe of oil renews the tone anytime.

Golden now, silver whenever

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

Solid stock is chosen for figure and soundness once its slow drying is verified. Boards with twist, checks, or dull grain never become a fixture.

The shaping process

The shaping process

The flowing contours are cut slightly proud of the line, leaving material for the handwork that gives each curve its profile.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

Every contour is sanded by hand through five grits until the frame feels right against an open palm.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Oil goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. The maker wires the pendant, lights it on the bench, and checks the hang before it is packed.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

Does it hang from the ceiling?
Yes — it is a ceiling pendant. The carved frame hangs from a canopy fixed over a standard junction box, on a cord that carries the fixture below it. Mounting hardware for the piece is included, and it goes up in about the space a builder-grade dome leaves behind. There is no shade; the frame itself shapes the light.
Is it hardwired or plug-in?
The listing states which, and it is confirmed before shipping. Wiring is done to US standards. For a hardwired fixture, a licensed electrician is the safe way to connect it at the ceiling box — the one-hour swap that takes the living room off its rental-grade dome for good.
Does it come with a bulb, and what kind?
Yes. The bulb type is on the listing, and the pendant ships with the bulb specified — often a warm Edison or LED — burned in on the bench before packing. A cool-running LED keeps heat away from the carved frame, so the wood around the socket stays put.
Can the hanging height be changed?
For a ceiling pendant the cord can be shortened at installation to sit where you want it over a seating area or table. Frame scale can be adjusted at order too, since each one is made singly — send your ceiling height and room size and we will confirm the proportions before the build starts.
Will the wood warp or dry out overhead?
No. The teak is hand-picked by selectors with thirty years at the lumber stacks, then kiln-dried for twenty days at a controlled temperature, so it is done moving before the frame is ever shaped. Mounted out of reach and lit by a cool LED, it holds its curves and asks for little more than a yearly wipe of oil.
