Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Handcrafted solid wood · Accent chair

The seat everyone drifts toward

The piece

Lean back. Nothing moves.

A chair takes the worst abuse in the house — tipped onto back legs, dropped into at the end of the day, dragged across floors twice a night. Ours are cut with mortise-and-tenon joints, wood locked into wood, because thin hanger bolts are the reason cheap chairs ask for a wrench three times in their first month.

In the living room that engineering disappears into a simple fact: you sit, you lean, and the frame answers with silence. Run a hand along the curve of the back — the makers matched the grain there on purpose, then sanded through five grits until the arms feel like river stones.

  • Sized for reading corners and conversation groupings
  • Mortise-and-tenon frame holds its geometry under daily leaning
  • Arms wide enough to rest a book or a mug
  • Seat height an older guest can push up from easily
  • Light enough to angle toward the window or the fire

It fits real homes.

First coffee

Six-forty on a weekday, the house still dark. You carry the first cup to the accent chair by the window and take the only ten unclaimed minutes of the day sitting down.

Three a.m. feed

Nursery, three a.m., the only light from the streetlamp. The accent chair holds the feeding without a single creak — and that silence, at that hour, is the entire review.

Thanksgiving promotion

The Wednesday before Thanksgiving, the folding chairs come up from the basement — and the accent chair gets carried to the head of the table, because the guest of honor deserves the best seat in the house.

Made to order

Every piece is made to order, and dimensions vary from one to the next. Need a different size for your space? Tell us your measurements and we'll build it to fit.

Teak, up close.

The grain

Honey and amber bands run the length of each plank. No two boards repeat, so your piece is the only one with this pattern.

The oils

Teak grows its own protective oils, and they carry the wood through dry winters and humid summers that crack lesser boards. Spills just need wiping up promptly.

The weight

Lift a corner and you feel dense, solid stock with no hollow frames or fillers. Kiln-dried before the build, it sits flat and stays put, even when the heat comes on.

The years ahead

Teak deepens toward a richer brown as it lives with you. A wipe of teak oil twice a year holds the tone you chose.

From plank to piece.

Select

Planks graded by practiced eyes, then kiln-dried slowly until they settle.

Mill

Each board cut, squared, and matched to the pattern.

Shape

Joined and eased with hand tools after the machines have done the rough work.

Finish

Sanded fine, then oiled until the grain reads deep.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

How are the chairs built to last?
Every chair in this collection is solid hardwood with mortise-and-tenon joinery at the stress points — the seat-to-leg and back-to-seat joints that decide whether a chair lasts five years or fifty.
Can seat height or finish be customized?
Seat height and finish tone can be tailored when you order. If your table runs tall or low, tell us its height and we will match the chairs to a comfortable clearance.
Do the chairs require assembly?
Chairs ship fully assembled. Joints are glued, clamped, and cured at the workshop — nothing for you to bolt together, and no wobble that starts its life at a cam lock.
What upkeep does a wooden chair need?
Wipe with a soft damp cloth and dry. Check that floor glides stay snug, and refresh the oil on arms and seat edges yearly, where hands rest most.
How are chairs and sets shipped?
Each chair is made to order, wrapped at every edge, and double-boxed. Pairs and sets ship together where possible, and tracking is sent to you at dispatch.
How much weight will the chair support?
These are solid hardwood frames with cut mortise-and-tenon joinery — the same construction found in chairs still in service after fifty years — built for full-size adults, daily use, and the lean-back habit. Exact tested capacity varies by design; each listing states its figure, along with the chair's own weight in pounds, which tells its own story.
Is bare wood actually comfortable, or will I want a cushion?
The seat is contoured with hand tools and checked against a human back, not just a template, and every edge is eased through five grits of sanding — so it sits far better than flat wood suggests. Many owners add a sheepskin in winter for warmth. If you want a pad for long evenings, that is a preference, not a correction.
