Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · L-shaped desk

Two runs of teak, one working corner.

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

An L-shaped desk that turns a corner into a workshop of your own.

Two runs of solid teak meet in one hand-shaped curve, the corner radius worked out around a turning office chair. The artisan pulls each board for matched grain — no veneer, no particleboard core, solid teak through the worktop — then carves and sands both legs until they read as one surface.

The flat-pack desk before this one bowed in the middle by year two and shivered every time you typed. This corner is sized to your wall and heavy enough to stay put, so an elbow pressed to the edge finds nothing to report. Years in, it still reads as the desk of someone doing real work.

  • Need two zones? The corner holds a monitor run and a paper run
  • Long legs seat two workers so no one relocates at deadline
  • Carved soft edges spare forearms through eight-hour days
  • Oiled teak wipes clean after coffee, lunch, and spilled juice
  • Anchors the office corner without walling the room in

It fits real homes.

The eight o'clock pivot

The eight o'clock pivot

8:58 on a Tuesday, the laptop opens on the long run and the call connects; a sketchbook waits on the short leg. One swivel of the chair moves you from the spreadsheet to a drawing, and a coworker asks about the grain behind you before the agenda starts.

Deadline night

Deadline night

Eleven at night, the report due by nine. Papers fan across the corner, a mug parked safely past the keyboard, the oiled teak warm under both wrists while the furnace ticks on through a dry January and the top stays dead flat.

Homework hour

Homework hour

Four to five on a school day, a third-grader claims the short leg for long division while you clear email on the long one. Two people, one corner, no elbows knocking — and the juice that spills wipes off the oil before it can soak in.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Tight, straight, even grain runs the full length of both worktop runs — the calm figure that keeps a busy desk composed, and stays cool and smooth under a resting forearm through a long working afternoon.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak carries its own natural oils. We hand-rub more into the worksurface, deepening the gold to a warm satin. It arrives smelling faintly of the woodshop, not of chemicals, and never turns plastic-slick under your wrists.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

At roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, and shrinkage among the lowest of any hardwood — about half that of oak — the long top holds flat under monitors through forced-air winters and humid Augusts alike.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

Indoors, teak deepens toward honey-amber rather than graying; silvering needs outdoor sun and rain. A light sanding and fresh oil reset the desktop to gold whenever a year of use asks for it.

Golden now, silver whenever

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

Boards are pulled one at a time by selectors with thirty years at the lumber stacks, matched by tone and grain across both legs of the L after twenty days in a temperature-controlled kiln. Twisted or dull stock never makes the cut.

The shaping process

The shaping process

The corner curve is traced from templates, then bandsawn slightly proud of the line, leaving material for the handwork that softens every edge a wrist will meet.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

The worksurface and edges are sanded by hand through successive grits until they feel right under a resting wrist, not merely look right.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Oil goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. The maker checks level, joinery, and finish across the full span before sign-off.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

How are the desks in this collection built?
Every desk is solid teak — top, legs, and drawer boxes, no veneer over particleboard — joined wood on wood and kiln-dried twenty days so the top stays flat under a monitor for a career, not a warranty window. You can sand and re-oil it for decades, which a veneer desk cannot survive once.
What sizes do you offer?
Sizes are made to order. A 48-inch top suits a bedroom office; 66 inches carries a partner-style layout. Height adjusts too, if your chair demands something specific — tape the footprint on your floor before you order and measure the narrowest door it must pass.
What assembly should I plan for?
Assembly is minimal: bases arrive whole and the top bolts on with the included key — no wordless diagrams, no leftover screw. One person can manage the smaller builds; pedestal desks want two people.
What is the care routine?
Dust it, wipe spills with mild soap and warm water, and re-oil the top once or twice a year when it looks thirsty — about twenty minutes. Keep hot mugs on a coaster; a stray water ring lifts with a cloth and a warm dry iron in half a minute.
How do these desks ship?
Desks ship made to order in padded, corner-blocked cartons or crates by size, because we have thought about the truck. Photograph the carton before the driver leaves and note any damage on the receipt; tracking is emailed at dispatch, and freight is scheduled with you in advance.
Can the L be built to fit my corner, and which way does it face?
Yes — both legs of the L are sized to order, and the desk can be built left- or right-facing to suit your corner. Send the wall lengths and where the window sits, and we will lay it out with you before the build begins.
