Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · L-shaped desk

Two wings, one chair spin

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

Work on one wing, a library on the other.

The L-shaped teak top turns a corner without losing its live edge, and open shelves are built straight into the run. Boards for both wings are pulled together so the grain carries around the angle; shelf heights are set to what a seated person reaches without standing. Solid wood the whole way — no particleboard hiding under the corner.

A folding table was fine for the first month of working from home; year three deserves furniture. Both wings stay flat under dual monitors because the boards spent twenty days in a temperature-controlled kiln before the first cut. The spare room stops apologizing for itself — and so does the person working in it.

  • Two worksurfaces inside one chair spin
  • Built-in shelves keep binders and references at arm's reach
  • Return builds for the left or right corner — you choose
  • Dual monitors plus a full writing area on the long wing
  • Legs bolt to threaded inserts — one person, fifteen minutes

It fits real homes.

Door closed by eight

Door closed by eight

Door closed by eight, two monitors on the long wing, coffee on the short one, the school bus already gone. The corner wraps around the chair like the day's own perimeter, warm teak under both wrists instead of cold laminate.

Reach, don't stand

Reach, don't stand

The style guide, last quarter's binder, the dictionary that still earns its keep — all on the built-in shelves, retrievable mid-sentence without the chair rolling an inch.

The Friday reset

The Friday reset

Friday, 5:15: loose papers filed into the open shelving, pens back in the cup, both wings wiped down. Monday will start at a bare live edge, the way a week should.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Tight, straight grain runs down both wings and meets cleanly at the corner — the junction is where your eye checks the craft first, so that is where the matching starts.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak carries its own natural oils. We hand-rub more into the worksurface and shelf faces — warm under resting wrists at hour eight, where a laminate top turns cold and tacky.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

Roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, with about half oak's seasonal movement — both wings hold flat under monitor arms and stacked books while the furnace dries the room all winter.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

Indoors the top deepens toward amber with the years — greying takes outdoor rain and sun. A light sanding and fresh oil on a slow weekend reset the gold completely.

Golden now, silver whenever

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

Boards for both wings are pulled together by thirty-year selectors so grain and tone carry around the corner. Twisted or dull stock never makes the cut.

The shaping process

The shaping process

The L-shaped top and shelf openings are cut slightly proud of the line, preserving the live edge along the desk's outer run.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

The corner junction, live edge, and shelf faces are sanded through five grits until the whole run feels like one board under a flat palm.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Oil goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. The maker checks level across both wings before the desk leaves the workshop.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

What kind of wood are the desks built with?
Solid teak tops the full thickness — no particleboard or MDF anywhere in the build, so a worn worksurface can be re-sanded and re-oiled instead of replaced. Tops are built thick enough to stay flat over a 60-inch span on hardwood legs or trestles.
Can I customize dimensions or add cable management?
Each desk is built to order, so both wing lengths, depth, and height adjust to your corner and chair. Standing-height builds and cable grommets can be added when you order — tell us where the outlets are and we place them.
How hard is assembly?
Legs or trestles bolt to pre-installed threaded inserts in the top — a fifteen-minute job for one person, no wordless diagrams and no leftover screw. The included hex key is the only tool you will need.
How should I treat the worksurface?
Wipe with a damp cloth and re-oil yearly — because the finish is penetrating oil, not a film, a deep scratch spot-sands out at home in ten minutes. Use a desk pad under daily writing if you prefer a flawless surface, or let the marks accrue honestly.
How does a desk arrive?
Made to order, with the top and base packed separately in padded cartons, hardware bagged to the frame. Tracking covers every box in the shipment — count the cartons on arrival and photograph any dented one before opening; we make transit damage right.
Which side does the L go on, and what fits the shelves?
The return can be built for either the left or right side of your corner — specify when you order. The open shelves are sized for binders, books, and files, keeping daily references reachable from the chair.
