These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly
Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.
Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.
Shipping & returns
Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.
Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

The piece
An armchair with the patience for a whole evening.
The curves were tuned the slow way — mock-ups sat in, arm heights adjusted, the back angle nudged degree by degree until the frame held a body at ease. The oak is solid through every rail and arm, chosen for figure and kiln-dried twenty days before the first cut; the cushions are fitted last, so the sculpture stays a chair first.
Deep seats built on flat-pack frames go soft and loose together — by year three the cushions and the joints have both given up. This frame is mortise-and-tenon at every stress point, glued and cured before shipping, and the cushions are cut to it, not near it. Movie nights turn it into contested territory, and whoever wins settles in for the whole film.

Plain-sawn rails show bold cathedral arches; the quarter-sawn arms carry ray fleck that flickers the way the fire does — the figure that carried a century of American Arts and Crafts furniture.
Finishes without fuss
Oak's even, tannin-rich grain takes the hand-rubbed oil cleanly, without blotching. Under a bare forearm on a July evening the arm reads cool and faintly ridged along the grain — wood you can feel, not a poured film.
Barrel-grade structure
Janka hardness near 1,350 and tyloses-plugged pores — the closed-cell structure of whiskey barrels. Kiln-dried twenty days before joinery, the frame sits quiet while the furnace pulls January air toward desert dryness.
Deepens with the decades
The exposed oak gains color where hands land instead of wearing through — armrests reading honeyed and settled by year ten. Keep it a couple of feet from the radiator and the oil does the rest.
From plank to piece.
The wood selection
Oak boards are pulled one at a time by selectors with thirty years at the lumber stacks, matched by tone across the frame. Stock with twist, checks, or dull figure never makes the cut.
The shaping process
Rails and arms are traced from templates, then bandsawn slightly proud of the line — spare material for the spokeshave work behind every curve.
The hand refinement
Armrests and edges are sanded by hand through successive grits until they feel right under a resting hand through a full chapter, not merely look right.
The final inspection
Joints are glued, clamped overnight, and cured before oil goes on in thin buffed coats. The maker rocks the frame on a flat bench, checks the cushion fit, and sits in it before it ships.
One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

Questions customers usually ask
How are the chairs built to last?
Every chair in this collection is solid hardwood with mortise-and-tenon joinery at the stress points — the seat-to-leg and back-to-seat joints that decide whether a chair lasts five years or fifty. Weight lands on wood fitted into wood, not on hardware that works loose.
Can seat height or finish be customized?
Seat height and finish tone are set when you order, because the build starts then. Tell us where it will live — a fireplace corner, a tall-windowed den — and we will match the proportions and tone to the spot.
Do the chairs require assembly?
Chairs ship fully assembled. Joints are glued, clamped, and cured at the workshop — nothing for you to bolt together, and no wobble that starts its life at a cam lock.
What upkeep does a wooden chair need?
Wipe with a soft damp cloth and dry. Keep the chair a couple of feet from radiators and heat vents, check that the floor glides stay snug, and refresh the oil on arms and seat edges yearly — a ten-minute rag job.
How are chairs and sets shipped?
Each chair is made to order, wrapped at every edge, and double-boxed. Pairs and sets ship together where possible; note any box damage on the delivery receipt before signing, and tracking is sent at dispatch.
Can the cushion fabric be chosen?
Yes. Cushion fabric and finish tone are confirmed at the time you order — tell us the room's palette and we will send options that sit well against the oak frame before the build begins. Fabric ages; the frame only deepens.
