Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Floating desk

A full desk, zero floor space

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

Work, lifted off the floor.

The designer started with what a small room loses to desk legs, and removed them. The top is solid teak, dried through a twenty-day kiln cycle so it hangs flat off a concealed steel cleat with no frame beneath it — two drawers tucked under the surface, and a recessed shelf that swallows the keyboard the moment work ends.

When the office is eight feet from the bed, the hardest part of working from home is making it stop. This desk closes like a drawer — laptop into the recess, notes away, floor clear beneath — and the room goes back to being a bedroom. The owner gets the corner back every night at six.

  • Frees the floor for the chair and the vacuum
  • Two drawers swallow pens, chargers, and paper
  • Recessed shelf parks the keyboard at shutdown
  • Mounts into studs at your exact working height
  • Fits bedroom corners, offices, and studio walls

It fits real homes.

Before the house wakes

Before the house wakes

6:40 on a school morning, coffee on the teak, inbox open before the first footsteps upstairs. The floor under the floating surface stays clear, and so does the first quiet hour of the day.

Homework hour

Homework hour

4 pm, backpack dropped, the drawers give up pencils and a calculator, the recessed shelf holds the worksheet queue. When dinner is called everything slides away and the wall goes calm.

Five hundred square feet

Five hundred square feet

In a studio apartment the desk hangs where a table could never stand. The chair tucks fully under, the robot vacuum runs beneath on schedule, and the square footage stops negotiating with a piece of furniture.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Tight, straight teak grain runs the width of the worksurface and across both drawer fronts — a calm figure for a place meant for focus, warm under a desk lamp on dark mornings.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak's natural oils take the hand-rubbed finish deeply, leaving a warm satin that never feels like laminate under your wrists — and never smells like one on day one.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

At roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, with seasonal movement about half that of oak, the surface hangs flat off the wall through furnace-dry winters and humid Augusts.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

The golden tone mellows gently under years of desk light; a wipe of fresh oil brings the worksurface back in twenty minutes, whenever it starts to look thirsty.

Golden now, silver whenever

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

Boards for the surface and drawer fronts are matched by tone and grain at the rack, so the desk reads as one piece on the wall.

The shaping process

The shaping process

The curved silhouette is traced and cut proud of the line, with drawer openings and the recess made before handwork begins.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

The rounded edges are sanded by hand through five grits until forearms rest comfortably through a full working day.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Oil goes on in thin coats; the drawers are fitted and run in their openings, the cleat mount is loaded and tested, and the desk signed out.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

What kind of wood are the desks built with?
Desks in this collection carry solid-wood tops with no particleboard anywhere in the build — which is why this one can hang flat off a cleat with nothing propping it up, and why the surface can be sanded and re-oiled for decades.
Can I customize dimensions or add cable management?
Each desk is built to order, so width, depth, and mounting height adjust to your room and chair. Cable grommets can be added when you order — tell us where the outlet sits and we plan the routing around it.
How hard is assembly?
There are no legs to assemble — this desk hangs on a concealed steel cleat anchored into at least two wall studs, with all hardware and a drilling template included. Most installs take under half an hour, and once mounted it holds far more than a desk setup ever will.
How should I treat the worksurface?
Use a desk pad under daily writing if you like a flawless surface, or let the marks accrue honestly — a real scratch spot-sands and re-oils at home in about ten minutes. Wipe with a damp cloth and re-oil yearly.
How does a desk arrive?
Desks ship made to order in padded cartons with corner protection, the cleat and hardware bagged inside with the template. Check the carton on arrival and note any damage with the carrier; tracking covers every box in the shipment.
