Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Hand-carved teak · Wall art

Carved stillness for the front hall

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

The first thing home says when you walk in is quiet.

The face is carved across separate teak panels — real relief cut into solid boards, not a routed pattern on MDF. The features resolve from across the room and soften into geometry up close, and the only finish is oil rubbed into every ridge and hollow, so the carving arrives smelling of wood, not varnish.

Most large wall pieces are prints pretending to be objects — flat under every light, identical in a thousand houses. Carved relief changes with the day: morning sun rakes the ridges, lamplight softens them. It gives an entry or living room a still point to land on after a loud commute, and no one else's hallway holds this exact board.

  • Anchors an entryway, stair landing, or the wall behind the sofa
  • Real carved depth — the shadows move as the daylight does
  • Multi-panel layout scales up or down to your wall
  • Features read clearly from across the room
  • Hanging hardware fitted and tested at the workshop

It fits real homes.

The decompression point

The decompression point

6:12 on a weeknight, keys in the bowl, bag on the bench. The hall lamp rakes the carved ridges into soft shadow, and one glance up officially ends the commute — the hallway does the exhale for you.

Before the house wakes

Before the house wakes

The mat unrolls beneath it at 6 a.m., streetlight still on outside. The face holds the same steady expression through every session, which turns out to be exactly the point.

The slow look

The slow look

Dinner guests drift over with their glasses and stand a while, watching the panels shift between geometry and face as they cross the room. Who made this comes up before dessert.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Tight, straight grain runs through each carved panel, so the relief reads as one serene surface. Up close the grain lines flow through the features like contour lines on a map.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak's own oils, hand-rubbed into every ridge and hollow. Fingertips read the carving as warm and satin — and the panels arrive smelling faintly of the woodshop, never of varnish.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

Roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, kiln-dried twenty days before carving — the panels hang flat and keep their crisp relief while the seasons swing the hallway's humidity.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

Indoors the carving deepens toward amber with the years — teak will not silver without outdoor sun and rain. A soft dry brush is the only upkeep the relief asks.

Golden now, silver whenever

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

Panels are cut from boards matched by tone and grain, so the face reads continuously across the set. Checked or dull stock never makes it past the layout bench.

The shaping process

The shaping process

The features are traced from templates, then carved slightly proud of the final line — spare wood for the gouge and rasp work that softens every contour.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

Each ridge and hollow is sanded by hand through successive grits until the relief catches light cleanly and feels smooth to the fingertips.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Oil goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. The maker hangs the set on a shop wall, checks the alignment against the template, then packs it.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

What is the wall art made from?
Solid-wood panels, carved and joined — real depth and shadow, not a printed pattern on MDF. The boards are kiln-dried before carving so the panels hang flat through furnace winters; a chipped print is ruined, but this relief can be dusted, re-oiled, and kept for decades.
Can a piece be scaled to my wall?
Yes — dimensions scale to your wall since each piece is made to order. Send a photo of the space with rough measurements and we will suggest proportions before the build starts.
How does it hang?
Hanging hardware is fitted at the workshop — keyhole slots or French cleats depending on weight — with matching anchors in the box. Most pieces hang on two screws.
Does wooden wall art need maintenance?
Dust with a soft dry brush or cloth, and keep it off walls with hard afternoon sun so the tones shift evenly. No oiling schedule, no products — the teak's own oils do the slow work.
How does wall art ship?
Made to order and shipped flat in a rigid, foam-lined carton with the hardware taped inside. Photograph the carton on arrival — if a corner took a hit, that photo speeds the fix. Tracking is emailed at dispatch.
How are the panels spaced and aligned?
The panels hang as a set on included hardware, with a paper template that fixes the spacing and keeps the features aligned. Set a level line first, and the face resolves the moment the last panel goes up.
