Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Sculptural bookshelf

Where the books meet the curve

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

Shelving that reads as sculpture from the sofa.

Flowing curves are hard on a woodworker — every arc is shaped and faired by hand until the line runs clean from end to end. The designers balanced open shelves against integrated drawers; the makers joined solid teak throughout, shelf into curved side, so the form carries real weight, not veneer over a hollow core.

A living room fills with loose ends — remotes, chargers, the paperbacks that never make it back. Against a long wall this holds the books and the ceramics and hides the clutter in the drawers, while kiln-dried teak keeps the spans flat under full rows of hardcovers instead of bowing by year three. People sit down, look up, and trace the curve without meaning to.

  • Open shelves stage books, ceramics, and framed photos
  • Integrated drawers swallow remotes, chargers, and cables
  • Curved form anchors a long wall without crowding it
  • Solid teak spans hold full rows of hardcovers flat
  • Low shelf sits at picture-book height for small readers

It fits real homes.

The bedtime shelf

The bedtime shelf

Seven-thirty on a school night, the lowest shelf belongs to the picture books at exactly the height small hands reach. Every night ends with someone standing there, weighing two stories against one, a palm flat on the smooth curved edge.

Tracing the line

Tracing the line

New guests do the same thing at a party: coffee in hand, a slow walk along the shelf, one finger following the curve from end to end. Nobody explains why, and the teak is cool and unbroken the whole way.

The Sunday reshuffle

The Sunday reshuffle

Once a season the books get reordered — by color, by author, by friendly argument. The shelf hosts the whole Sunday debate and looks better after every verdict, the drawers swallowing whatever loses its place.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Along every shelf face and curve, teak's tight, even grain runs calm and continuous — the figure collectors ask for by name. Under the reading lamp it holds a warm honey line the length of the wall.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak carries its own natural oils. We hand-rub more into the shelf faces and drawer fronts, deepening the golden tone to a warm satin that never feels like plastic and gives off no chemical smell in a closed room.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

At roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, with some of the lowest shrinkage of any hardwood, these shelves stay flat under full rows of books through dry winters and humid summers alike.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

Left alone, the teak drifts toward a refined silver-grey — a surface change only. A light sanding and fresh oil bring back the gold anytime, and indoors it deepens rather than silvers.

Golden now, silver whenever

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

Teak boards are pulled one at a time, kiln-dried twenty days, and matched by tone across shelves and drawer fronts. Twist, checks, or dull figure never make it.

The shaping process

The shaping process

The curves are traced from templates, then bandsawn slightly proud of the line — leaving material for the handwork that fairs every arc.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

Every shelf edge and curve is sanded through successive grits until the long line feels unbroken under a tracing finger.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Oil goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. Drawer fit, level, and finish are checked before the shelf leaves the workshop.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

How is this bookshelf constructed?
Solid teak from shelf to frame, no veneer over a hollow core, with shelves joined directly into the curved sides. That joint is what keeps a long span from sagging under a full row of hardcovers, where a screwed-on veneer shelf bows within a year.
Can dimensions be adjusted to my wall?
Yes — height, width, and shelf spacing can be adjusted when you order. Measure your wall and ceiling first; we regularly build around baseboards, sloped ceilings, and awkward alcoves.
Should a bookshelf be anchored to the wall?
Taller bookshelves include an anti-tip strap and wall anchor, and we recommend using it, especially with children in the house. The strap installs into one stud in a few minutes.
What care do loaded shelves need?
Dust shelves with a dry cloth and rotate sun-exposed decor occasionally so the wood tones evenly. An annual coat of oil keeps edges and faces rich, and spot-repairs a mark at home instead of peeling.
How does a bookshelf arrive?
Bookshelves are made to order and ship crated, standing on a padded base with the back panel protected. Photograph the crate before the driver leaves; tracking is provided, and large pieces are delivered by appointment.
What fits in the integrated drawers?
The drawers are sized for the living room's loose ends — remotes, chargers, coasters, a deck of cards. They sit flush in the curve, so the line reads unbroken when everything is put away.
