Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Wall sculpture

A carved current across the wall

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

Solid teak, carved until it reads like motion.

The form begins as a sketch of one continuous gesture, then a solid teak blank, then days of carving. The artisan works the curves and voids by hand, following the grain so the figure flows with the shape — thirty-nine inches of solid wood that lands like a single brushstroke, carved right through, not a routed veneer.

A framed print gives you a flat rectangle that reads the same at every hour. This throws real relief and real shadow that shift as the day's light crosses the room — and because the teak dried twenty days in the kiln, the panel stays flat on the wall instead of cupping over a heat vent. Hang it once and the wall keeps earning a second look, morning and midnight.

  • Long blank wall? Fills the space over sofa or bed.
  • Tired of flat prints? Real relief throws shifting shadow.
  • Easy to hang? Two screws and fitted hardware.
  • Sofa-scale? Thirty-nine inches wide by design.
  • Low upkeep? A soft brush of dusting, year to year.

It fits real homes.

Light moves, it moves

Light moves, it moves

Morning sun rakes the carving from the left; lamplight rounds it off at night. The same piece shows one face at breakfast, 7 am, and another at midnight over a last glass of wine.

Above the sofa

Above the sofa

It settled the long blank wall behind the sofa in one Saturday afternoon — two screws, a level, a step back — and the living room finally had its center.

The close read

The close read

New guests do the same dance: notice it from the doorway, cross the room, tilt their head into the voids, and ask if it is really one piece of wood.

Every piece is made to order, and dimensions vary from one to the next. Need a different size for your space? Tell us your measurements and we'll build it to fit.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Tight, straight, even grain runs the length of the carved face, so the figure follows the sculpture's curves instead of fighting them. Trace a ridge and the grain runs with your finger.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak carries its own natural oils. We hand-rub more into every ridge and hollow, deepening the golden tone to a warm satin that holds shadow well and arrives smelling of the woodshop, not of fresh lacquer.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

At roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, with some of the lowest shrinkage of any hardwood, the carved form hangs flat and true even when winter heat dries the room to a desert reading.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

On a sun-washed wall the piece tones slowly toward silver-grey — a surface change only, not damage. A light sanding and fresh oil bring back the gold anytime.

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

After twenty days in the kiln, stock is pulled one board at a time and matched by tone across the form; wood with twist, checks, or dull figure never makes the cut.

The shaping process

The shaping process

The gesture is traced from templates, then bandsawn slightly proud of the line — leaving material for the carving that shapes each curve and void.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

Ridges, hollows, and edges are sanded by hand through successive grits until every contour feels right under a fingertip, front and back.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Oil goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. The maker checks the hanging fittings and finish before the piece leaves the workshop.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

What is the wall art made from?
Wall art in this collection is worked from solid teak panels and slices — carved, joined, or arranged — so the piece has real depth and shadow, not a printed pattern. Solid through, which is why a scuff sands out instead of tearing a paper face.
Can a piece be scaled to my wall?
Yes — dimensions scale to your wall since each piece is made to order. Send a photo of the space with rough measurements and we will suggest proportions.
How does it hang?
Hanging hardware is fitted at the workshop — keyhole slots or French cleats by weight — with matching anchors in the box. Most pieces hang on two screws.
Does wooden wall art need maintenance?
Dust with a soft dry brush or cloth, and keep it off a wall with hard afternoon sun so the tones shift evenly. Nothing else is required year to year — there is no film finish to craze or peel.
How does wall art ship?
Each piece is made to order and ships flat in a rigid, foam-lined carton with the hardware taped inside. Tracking is emailed to you once the carton ships.
Will it suit the wall above my sofa?
At 39 inches wide by 16 inches high, this piece sits comfortably above a standard three-seat sofa with air on both sides. Hang it eight to ten inches above the backrest; the included hardware and anchors handle the rest.
