Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.
These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.
Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.
Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.
Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

The piece
Our designers pared the desk to a single 1.5-inch walnut plank, mounted so the live edge faces the room. Each board is selected for its chocolate figure — solid walnut, not veneer over a hollow core that dents at the first mug — then shaped, hand-sanded through the grits, and oiled until the surface asks to be touched.
Not every home has a spare room for an office; most have a hallway nook, a bedroom corner, or the closet that got repurposed. Hung there, this claims zero floor and gives a small home a real workplace — thick enough that a leaning forearm meets no flex. When the laptop closes on Friday, guests see a live-edge shelf for keys and mail, not a desk waiting for Monday.
Coffee in one hand, inbox scanned standing up before the school run. The little walnut ledge in the hallway handles the day's first ten minutes of work, and on a webcam the grain behind reads calm — a coworker asks about it before the agenda.
After dinner, one kid, one 2700K lamp, one math worksheet on the wood. The desk is exactly big enough for the job and too small for distractions — pencil dents and an eraser smudge wipe away, and deeper marks spot-sand out on a Saturday.

Straight grain broken by curls, waves, and darker mineral streaks crosses the worksurface — chocolate tones that come from the tree itself, never from a stain. The board you get is proof it is solid walnut, not a printed sheet.
A simple oil finish is all walnut asks. The desktop polishes to a smooth, lustrous depth that pulls a resting hand across the surface between emails — a low sheen under window light, no plastic gloss to fingerprint.
At about 1,010 on the Janka scale, the walnut top absorbs the daily knocks of laptops, mugs, and pens without turning brittle — the resilience that kept it in gunstocks for a century. A gouge spot-sands and re-oils in ten minutes.
The desktop settles into a warmer, more personal patina with each year of work and window light. Kiln-dried twenty days, it finished moving before the first cut, so the plank stays flat when a dry January drops the room to 20 percent humidity.
Walnut boards are pulled one at a time for figure and a live edge worth facing the room, by selectors with thirty years at the stacks. Twisted or dull stock never makes the cut.
The plank is cut slightly proud of the line, the wall side squared for the cleat, the front edge left as it grew.
The worksurface and edges are sanded by hand through successive grits until the writing area feels right under a resting forearm.
Oil goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. The maker checks cleat fit, level, and finish before the desk is signed out.
One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.
