Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Floating vanity shelf

One teak board carries the morning

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

A single board that carries the morning.

Every shelf starts as one solid teak board, chosen for the line of its live edge before anything else — pulled from the stacks by a selector with thirty years at them, then dried for twenty slow days so the board's moving is over before it is cut. An artisan trues the working faces by hand, keeps the contour exactly as the tree grew it, and oils the grain until it reads across the room.

Small bathrooms and rented ones share the same problem: one crowded counter and nowhere to set anything down. A floating shelf claims a blank wall instead — razor, watch, and rolled towels on real wood, warm and grippy even wet, the floor untouched. The smallest piece in the house can still be the one a visitor mentions on the way out.

  • Floats on concealed brackets — floor and counter stay clear
  • Teak's own oils shrug off steam and splash
  • Rated for real loads: towels, jars, the daily kit
  • Live edge makes storage the room's one detail
  • Cut to your alcove's exact width, made to order

It fits real homes.

Tuesday, six-fifty

Tuesday, six-fifty

Razor, watch, ring — the morning hardware lands on one honest wooden ledge instead of a crowded counter, the teak warm even before the shower steams the room. The routine takes the same six minutes; it just runs in order now.

Nine-thirty, tub filling

Nine-thirty, tub filling

End of a long Thursday. A candle, a book that may not get opened, a glass resting on solid teak while the tub fills and the mirror fogs. The shelf holds the evening's whole agenda without a coaster in sight.

The rental bathroom

The rental bathroom

A rented bathroom with a pedestal sink and no counter at all. Two screws into a stud and the blank wall becomes storage — the one thing in the room the landlord did not choose, and the one thing leaving with you.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Tight, straight, even grain runs the length of the shelf face until it breaks at the live edge — and after a hot shower, the beading water makes the figure read even deeper for a few minutes.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak carries its own natural oils and silica — the reason it lines commercial steam rooms. We hand-rub more into the top; the surface stays warm and grippy when wet, unlike the tile and chrome around it.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

At roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, with some of the lowest shrinkage of any hardwood, the board stays flat through twice-daily steam in July and the bone-dry heat of a January bathroom fan — the swing that cups lesser shelves.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

Left alone in a steamy room, teak drifts toward silver-grey — a paper-thin surface change only, never rot. A light sanding and fresh oil bring the shelf back to gold in twenty minutes, over a sink if you like.

Golden now, silver whenever

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

Boards are pulled one at a time for figure and a live edge worth keeping — sighted down their length for straightness under the rack lights. Twisted, checked, or dull stock never makes it.

The shaping process

The shaping process

The working faces are cut slightly proud of the line while the natural contour stays untouched — material left for the handwork ahead, the bark line taped off like a keepsake.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

Top, underside, and raw edge are sanded through successive grits until every face — even the bark line — feels smooth against an open palm, checked bare-handed for snags.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Oil goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. The maker checks flatness against a straightedge, test-fits the concealed brackets, and signs off before the shelf ships.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

Will these shelves hold up in a humid bathroom?
Yes. Each shelf is cut from solid teak — the wood commercial spas and steam rooms use in conditions wetter than any home bath. Its natural oils and silica resist moisture better than nearly any furniture wood, and the board was kiln-dried for twenty days before it was ever cut.
What lengths and depths are available?
Standard lengths run from about 16 to 36 inches, but every shelf is made to order — send us the width of your alcove or wall and we will cut to it, to the quarter inch.
What does mounting involve?
Shelves ship with concealed brackets and hardware for both studs and masonry. Anchor into at least one stud where possible; over tile, use the included anchors and a quality masonry bit — a fifteen-minute job with a level and a drill.
How do I care for teak near a shower?
Wipe off standing water after showers, run the fan, and let the shelf breathe. Any dark spotting is mildew feeding on soap film sitting on the wood, not the wood failing — a rinse and soft scrub clears it. Re-oil every few months in a steamy bathroom to keep the teak golden.
How is my order packed and shipped?
Every shelf is made to order, wrapped edge to edge, and boxed with rigid corner guards. You receive tracking the day it ships from the workshop; check the live edge on arrival, and if anything slipped through we make it right.
What will one shelf realistically hold?
Rolled towels, a soap tray, a small plant, and the daily essentials with room to spare — the concealed brackets are sized for real loads, not decoration. Anchor into a stud where possible and load it without a second thought.
