Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Wall art

One wave across the whole wall

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

One wall, one long wave of carved teak.

The designers studied how a long wall reads from the sofa, then drew a single sweep of ridges to carry the eye across it. Carvers follow the teak's grain so the wood's own lines run with the wave, and the boards spend twenty days in a temperature-controlled kiln first — a panel this long has to hang flat and stay flat through furnace winters.

The wall above the sofa is the largest surface in most American living rooms, and a framed print solves it the way it solves everyone else's. Carved relief is a different answer: depth that shifts with the daylight, shadows no printer produces, and grain that belongs to your board alone. It will not match the photos exactly — that is the point of one-of-one.

  • Sized for the long wall above a sofa or bed
  • Carved depth throws real shadows a framed print cannot
  • French cleat or keyhole hardware fitted at the workshop, anchors included
  • Your board's grain, carved — nothing printed to fade

It fits real homes.

Four o'clock light

Four o'clock light

At four the winter sun rakes across the ridges and the piece shifts — hollows going dark, crests catching gold. By June the show has moved to seven in the evening. Same wall, never quite the same wave.

The dinner-party pause

The dinner-party pause

Coats barely off, one guest drifts to the long wall and stands under the wave, tracing a crest a beat longer than needed. The host answers where-did-you-find-this while pouring the first glass.

Coming home to it

Coming home to it

Keys in the bowl, one lamp on, and the relief catches the low light down its whole length — oiled crests glowing faintly against dark hollows, the quiet signal that the workday is over.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Tight, straight grain runs the length of the carved panel, so the wood's own lines flow with the wave instead of fighting it — and in raking light the two patterns move together, carving and grain reading as one drawing.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak carries its own natural oils; we hand-rub more into every crest and hollow. The relief lands warm and matte-satin under lamplight, and the carton opens on the smell of a woodshop — cut wood and oil, not finish fumes.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

At roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, with about half the seasonal movement of oak, the panel hangs flat with no cupping across its long span. One placement rule: keep any wood a foot or two off a radiator wall — radiant heat dries one side first.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

On an indoor wall the relief will not silver — that takes outdoor UV and rain. Expect a slow deepening toward honey-amber; on a wall that takes hard afternoon sun, the shift runs a little faster, so filter the light if you want it even.

Golden now, silver whenever

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

Selectors with thirty years at the lumber stacks pull teak and match tone and grain along the full sweep, laying the boards out dry on the bench before committing; twisted or dull stock never makes the cut.

The shaping process

The shaping process

The wave is traced from templates, then cut slightly proud of the line — spare material left for the carving that gives each ridge its exact profile.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

Crests and hollows are sanded by hand through five successively finer grits, the paper folded to reach the bottom of every hollow, until each contour feels right against an open palm.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Oil goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. The maker fits the hanging hardware, checks flatness against a straightedge, and signs the piece out under a raking lamp.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

What is the wall art made from?
Wall art in this collection is worked from solid-wood panels and slices — carved, joined, or arranged — so the piece has real depth and shadow, not a printed pattern. Sand-through cannot ruin what is teak all the way down.
Can a piece be scaled to my wall?
Yes — dimensions scale to your wall since each piece is made to order. Send a photo of the space with rough measurements and we will suggest proportions before the build starts.
How does it hang?
Hanging hardware is fitted at the workshop — keyhole slots or French cleats by weight — with matching anchors in the box. Most pieces hang on two screws.
Does wooden wall art need maintenance?
Dust the crests and hollows with a soft dry brush a few times a year. There is no film finish to crack or yellow, so there is nothing to re-coat — the only rule is avoiding hard, direct afternoon sun if you want the tone to shift evenly.
How does wall art ship?
Each piece is made to order and ships flat in a rigid, foam-lined carton with the hardware taped inside. Photograph the carton if it arrives crushed and note it on the receipt; tracking is emailed when the carton ships.
Will my wall hold a sculpture this large?
Yes, on ordinary construction. Larger builds hang on a French cleat that spreads the weight across two or more studs, with hardware matched to the finished piece at the workshop. Standard wood-stud walls carry it comfortably — we include the piece's actual weight with your order so you know exactly what you are hanging.
