Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Pendant light

Grain overhead, dinner underneath

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

A beam of teak that carries the evening's light.

A solid teak beam hangs from slim cables with the light running along its underside, so the glow lands on plates instead of eyes. The maker pulls a long straight-grained board — clean figure only, since the body hangs at eye level — channels the wiring, and oils every face by hand. It arrives fully wired, bulb included.

Ceiling cans light a kitchen; they have never once made anyone linger. Hung low over the table, this beam pulls the evening down to where people actually sit, and the meal happens inside its pool of light. Years on, the fixture guests look up at is still wood — and you will still like switching it on last.

  • Even underside glow covers a full table or island
  • Slim cables keep the ceiling line clean
  • Warm light that flatters food and faces, never a glare
  • Fully wired with bulb; add your plug or hardwire
  • Reads as sculpture over the table even switched off

It fits real homes.

Taco Tuesday, dimmed

Taco Tuesday, dimmed

Taco night on a Tuesday, plates down, the ceiling cans off, steam from the skillet drifting up past the warm grain overhead. Everything outside the table softens; everyone at it leans in an inch. The cleanup can wait until the glow says so.

Homework at the island

Homework at the island

Four p.m., backpacks dropped, worksheets spread down the island. The even light along the underside covers long division end to end — no shadows, no squinting, no lamp dragged in from the den.

The last light on

The last light on

Dishes done, house quiet, one cup of tea under the beam before bed. It is the last switch touched most nights, and the warmest thing still on in the house.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Tight, straight grain runs the full length of the body — and because the beam hangs at eye level, you read that figure every night the way you would a mantel photograph.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak carries its own natural oils. We hand-rub more into the long faces, and the low satin sheen catches its own light every evening — warm, never lacquer-shiny.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

Roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter with about half oak's seasonal movement — a kiln-dried beam this dense hangs straight and stays straight through furnace winters and humid Augusts.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

Indoors the beam will not grey — kitchen light slowly deepens it toward amber instead. If steam and time ever dull it, a light sanding and fresh oil bring the gold back.

Golden now, silver whenever

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

Long, straight-grained boards are pulled one at a time and kiln-dried twenty days before the first cut — the body hangs at eye level, so only clean, even figure makes it.

The shaping process

The shaping process

The elongated body is cut slightly proud of the line, then channeled for wiring and the integrated light along its underside.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

Edges and faces are sanded through five grits until every corner reads crisp from below and feels smooth in the hand.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Oil goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. The maker tests the wiring and glow before the pendant is signed out of the workshop.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

Does it mount to the ceiling?
Yes. The beam hangs from a canopy over a standard junction box on slim cords, so the light runs along its underside and lands on the table rather than in seated eyes. All mounting hardware for the piece is in the box, ready to hang over a table or island.
Is it hardwired or plug-in?
The listing states which, and it is confirmed before shipping. The wiring follows US standards. For a hardwired beam, a licensed electrician is the safe way to connect it at the ceiling box — routine work for a fixture centered over the dining table.
Does it come with a bulb, and what kind?
Yes — the bulb type is noted on the listing, and the beam ships with the bulb specified, most often a warm Edison or LED running the underside channel. LED runs cool, so the glow flatters food and faces without throwing heat down onto the plates.
Can the drop over the table be changed?
The cords can be shortened at installation to set the beam where you want it — standard practice puts it 30 to 36 inches above the table. Beam length adjusts at order too; tell us your ceiling height and table and we will size both the drop and the beam to the room.
Will the beam warp hanging over the table?
No. Long, straight-grained boards are pulled one at a time and kiln-dried twenty days before the first cut, so the wood has finished moving before it is channeled and hung. Dense teak, near half oak's seasonal movement and lit by a cool bulb, hangs straight through furnace winters and humid Augusts alike.
