Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Carved wall art

Sixteen inches of tide, carved still

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

Sixteen inches of motion, frozen in solid wood.

A carver works these folds from solid teak, ridge by ridge, until light rolls across the panel the way it moves over water. It is carved relief all the way through — not a pressed or printed texture — so the shadows are real and shift with the sun. The boards dry twenty days in a controlled kiln first, which is why the folds stay crisp through furnace winters.

An entryway is the hardest wall in the house — too small for a big canvas, too visible for nothing. At sixteen inches square this panel holds it without crowding, hangs on two screws, and moves out as easily as it moved in when the lease does. The house gets a first sentence, and you wrote it.

  • Sized for the entry wall a big canvas would crowd
  • Hidden mount — hangs level on two screws, no visible hardware
  • Real carved relief; the shadows move with the daylight
  • Renter-friendly — two small holes and it moves with you
  • Hand-carved, so no two panels repeat

It fits real homes.

The pause at hello

The pause at hello

Coats half off, a friend stops mid-hello and reaches for the ridges — everyone touches it before finishing the sentence. Carved teak invites the hand in a way a print never will.

Seven forty, out the door

Seven forty, out the door

Keys land on the console, one kid fights a shoe, the leash comes off its hook. The tide on the wall holds the morning chaos in place — the calmest thing you own is the last thing you see leaving.

Raking light, four o'clock

Raking light, four o'clock

Winter sun comes in low and drags every fold into shadow; by dusk the relief softens to an even glow. The same sixteen inches, different at every hour you pass it.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Tight, straight grain runs beneath the carved folds and throws true shadow in raking light — depth a printed panel can only fake, and only from one angle.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak carries its own natural oils. We hand-rub more across the carved face, deepening the gold against the charcoal edges; up close the panel smells faintly of the woodshop it left, never of varnish.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

At roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, dried through three slow weeks in a controlled kiln, the panel holds its carved detail crisp from furnace-dry January to a humid August hallway.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

Indoors, away from hard afternoon sun, the gold deepens slightly with age rather than fading. A light re-oiling every year or two restores the depth of the ridges anytime.

Golden now, silver whenever

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

Panels are chosen for straight, even grain and held to the window light to confirm the figure will read through carved folds. Dull stock never becomes wall art.

The shaping process

The shaping process

The tide pattern is drawn onto the panel, then carved slightly proud of the line — leaving depth for the handwork that follows.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

Each ridge and hollow is sanded by hand until the folds flow into one another — fingertips, not eyes, make the final check for surviving tool marks.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Oil goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. The maker hangs the panel on a shop wall, checks the hidden mount and edges, and signs off before packing.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

What is the wall art made from?
Wall art in this collection is worked from solid-wood panels and slices — carved, joined, or arranged — so the piece has real depth and shadow, not a printed pattern. Carved solid wood can also be re-oiled for decades; a print cannot.
Can a piece be scaled to my wall?
Yes — dimensions scale to your wall since each piece is made to order. Send a photo of the space with rough measurements and we will suggest proportions before the carving starts.
How does it hang?
Hanging hardware is fitted at the workshop — keyhole slots or French cleats by weight — with matching anchors in the box. Most pieces hang on two screws.
Does wooden wall art need maintenance?
Dust with a soft dry brush or cloth. Avoid walls with hard, direct afternoon sun — teak's shift is mild and even, but any wood prefers even light. Nothing else is required year to year.
How does wall art ship?
Each piece is made to order and ships flat in a rigid, foam-lined carton with the hardware taped inside. Tracking is emailed the day it ships; if the carton arrives crushed, photograph it before signing and we make it right.
How big is this panel, and can I hang a group?
This panel measures 16 inches wide by 16 inches high. Many customers hang two or three in a row down a hallway — order them together and the carvings are cut so the tide pattern flows piece to piece.
