Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Sculptural wall art

A wall that changes with the light

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

Grown by a tree, composed by a hand.

This piece begins as real teak roots, formed slowly underground over decades. The artisan studies the tangle before touching it, keeps the strongest lines, then joins and finishes the composition so it flows across the wall — half nature's work, half a patient pair of hands, and solid wood the whole way, not a printed panel.

The trouble with most wall decor is that it is a printed rectangle a thousand other rooms also own. This is one arrangement of roots that exists once. Kiln-dried before assembly, it holds its twists without shifting season to season, and afternoon light rakes across it so the shadows move — you notice, quietly pleased, that guests always sit facing it.

  • Anchors a sofa wall, bed wall, or entry
  • Three-dimensional relief casts moving shadows across the day
  • Ships on hanging hardware fitted at the workshop
  • No two root compositions ever repeat — yours exists once
  • Needs only an occasional soft dusting, year to year

It fits real homes.

Four o'clock shadows

Four o'clock shadows

Late afternoon in autumn, the sun dropping low, and the roots throw long shadows down the wall that shift by the quarter hour. You catch yourself watching the wall instead of your phone — the relief you can trace with a finger, cool and smooth.

The dinner-table question

The dinner-table question

Someone at Sunday dinner finally asks what it is. Roots, you say — real teak, decades old. The table turns to look, a hand reaches up to feel the grain, and the conversation runs on trees for a while.

The reading corner

The reading corner

One lamp, one good chair, and the root composition filling the wall above them on a quiet evening. The corner always needed a reason to sit in it; the low sheen of oiled teak, warm under the bulb, finally gives it one.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Follow any limb of the composition and teak's tight, even grain runs calm along it — the consistent figure collectors ask for by name. Up close the oiled surface is cool and smooth where you expect rough bark.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak carries its own natural oils. We hand-rub more into every curve and hollow, deepening the golden tone to a warm satin that never reads as varnish, and leaves the wood smelling faintly sweet rather than of solvent.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

At roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter with some of the lowest shrinkage of any hardwood, these root forms hold their twists flat and true on the wall through dry winters and humid Augusts alike.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

Kept indoors and oiled, the roots stay golden for decades and will not silver — that takes outdoor sun and rain. If the tone ever drifts in a bright room, a light sanding and fresh oil bring it back.

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

Root sections are gathered and kiln-dried, the heat driving out moisture and any insects with it, then sorted for movement and strength. Tangles without a clear line never make a composition.

The shaping process

The shaping process

The strongest forms are arranged, trimmed, and joined into one flowing panel — cut slightly proud, leaving material for the handwork on every curve.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

Every limb and hollow is sanded through successive grits until the whole relief feels smooth under a tracing finger.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Oil goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. Hanging hardware, balance, and finish are checked before the piece leaves the workshop.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

What is the wall art made from?
It is solid teak root and wood throughout — carved, joined, and arranged, never a printed pattern over board. That is where the real depth and moving shadow come from; a flat print cannot cast them.
Can a piece be scaled to my wall?
Yes — dimensions scale to your wall since each piece is made to order. Send a photo of the space with rough measurements and we will suggest proportions.
How does it hang?
Hanging hardware is fitted at the workshop — keyhole slots or French cleats by weight — with matching anchors in the box. Most pieces hang on two screws.
Does wooden wall art need maintenance?
Dust with a soft dry brush or cloth, and keep it off a wall with hard afternoon sun so the tones shift evenly over years. Nothing else is required — no oiling schedule for a piece that never gets wet.
How does wall art ship?
Each piece is made to order and ships flat in a rigid, foam-lined carton with the hardware taped inside. Tracking is emailed to you once the carton ships.
How closely will my piece match the photos?
It will not match exactly, and that is the point — every composition is built from different roots. We share photos of your actual piece before it ships, and scale the arrangement to your wall when you order.
