Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Wall art

Carved teak waves that work the light

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

A wall that changes with the light.

Carved layer by layer from blocks of solid teak joined edge to edge, the waves rise and fall like a shoreline read from above. The carver follows the grain so each crest catches light along its edge. It ships in sections — solid wood this deep should not flex as one panel — and fastens back into a single surface at home.

Most big walls end up with a printed canvas that reads flat from six feet away. This is actual depth: morning sun flattens the relief, one evening lamp throws the ridges into inch-deep shadow, and the wall runs a different show every hour. The owner stops noticing the art and starts noticing the light, which is the quieter kind of pride.

  • Sized for the wide span above a sofa or bed
  • Real carved depth and shadow — not a printed pattern
  • Sections fasten flat at home, then read as one surface
  • Hangs on included hardware; most installs finish in an afternoon
  • Care is a soft brush along the ridges now and then

It fits real homes.

Friday, records on

Friday, records on

Nine o'clock, no screens. A record turning, two glasses poured, one lamp raking the carved crests into deep relief — the living room reads deliberate, designed by the people who actually live in it.

Fourth apartment

Fourth apartment

Move-in day, fourth lease in six years, landlord-beige walls again. The panel goes up on two screws and the living room is theirs within the hour. The walls change every lease; the teak does not.

January, four o'clock

January, four o'clock

A low winter sun cuts across the living room and the ridges throw their longest shadows of the year. By the time the streetlights come on, the panel has run its whole slow show.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

The grain runs tight and straight through every carved layer, and a fingertip can ride one crest the full width without a catch — the figure stays calm so the contours do the talking.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak carries its own natural oils. Hand-finishing deepens the crests to a low golden sheen while the carved hollows stay a shade lighter, so the relief reads even in flat midday light.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

Dense enough at roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter to blunt a careless chisel, and moving about half as much as oak, the joined panel holds its contours flat from furnace-dry winters through humid Augusts.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

Indoors the tone only deepens — gray needs outdoor sun and rain. If a bright south window slowly lightens the crests over the years, a soft cloth and a whisper of oil even them out.

Golden now, silver whenever

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

Teak blocks come out of a twenty-day kiln cycle before they are matched by tone and grain for joining — carving this deep demands wood that has finished its moving.

The shaping process

The shaping process

The wave pattern is drawn full-size onto the joined panel, then carved layer by layer — each contour cut slightly proud for the handwork to follow.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

Every crest and hollow passes through five grits of sandpaper by hand until fingertips glide the full width of the panel without a catch.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Finish goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. The maker sights along the ridges under a raking lamp before the panel is signed out of the workshop.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

What is the wall art made from?
Solid-wood panels and slices — carved, joined, or arranged. Run a hand across it: the relief is cut into the teak, not printed on it, and unlike a canvas it can be refreshed with oil for decades.
Can a piece be scaled to my wall?
Yes — dimensions scale to your wall since each piece is made to order. Send a photo of the space with rough measurements and we will suggest proportions, and you see the finished panel photographed before it ships.
How does it hang?
Hanging hardware is fitted at the workshop — keyhole slots or French cleats chosen by weight — with matching anchors in the box. Most pieces hang on two screws.
Does wooden wall art need maintenance?
Dust with a soft dry brush. Standard window glass stops most UVB but only about a third of UVA, so a wall in hard afternoon sun will lighten slowly and evenly over years — rotate the piece occasionally or add UV window film if you want to stop it.
How does wall art ship?
Each piece is made to order and ships flat in a rigid, foam-lined carton with the hardware taped inside. Tracking is emailed when the carton ships; check the packaging before signing if the box looks knocked around.
Why does this panel arrive in sections?
The panel is carved from solid teak blocks joined together, and a relief this deep travels safest in parts — nothing flexes in transit. The sections align and fasten at home in a short sitting, then read as one continuous carved surface.
