Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Wall art

The first thing the house says.

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

Carved teak that greets everyone at the door.

An elongated vertical form, carved through with open negative spaces that let the wall show between the curves. Our designers proportioned it for the tall, narrow real estate of an entry wall; the artisan carves each opening by hand from solid teak — real relief cut into the wood, not a printed panel — and sands the passages smooth enough to invite a finger.

Most wall pieces this size are a photograph laminated onto board, flat the day they were pressed and flat forever. This one throws its own shadow and deepens as the teak ages, carved from graded plantation heartwood that no two panels repeat. It turns the most-used three feet of the house — where coats come off and keys land — into the most-looked-at.

  • Narrow entry wall? The vertical format fits where art rarely does
  • Carved openings cast shadows that change through the day
  • Real carved depth and relief — never a printed pattern
  • Hangs flat, clear of coats and passing shoulders
  • Sets the tone before a word is spoken

It fits real homes.

Shadows on schedule

Shadows on schedule

The hallway lamp comes on each evening and rakes through the carved openings, throwing a shadow pattern that shifts as people pass. In winter, when the light drops by five, the wall is already working the moment you walk in.

The delivery pause

The delivery pause

Even the courier notices — a beat at the open door, a nod toward the carved piece, the question about where it came from before the signature. Real depth reads at arm's length in a way a print never manages.

Coming home

Coming home

Keys in the bowl, shoes off, and the grain catching the last daylight down the hall, warm and faintly sweet where the oil sits in the wood. Ten seconds of quiet before the household finds you.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Tight, straight, even grain runs the full height of the carved panel — the calm figure that keeps an abstract form from ever feeling busy, and gives the shadows a clean surface to fall across at eye level.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak carries its own natural oils. We hand-rub more into the carved faces and inner edges, deepening the golden tone to a satin that shifts with the light — and the piece arrives smelling of the woodshop, not of a spray booth.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

At roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, with shrinkage about half that of oak, the panel hangs flat against the wall through a dry forced-air winter and a humid summer without cupping or opening at the carved edges.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

Indoors, teak deepens toward warm honey-amber rather than graying; the silver patina needs outdoor sun and rain. A light sanding and fresh oil bring the carving back to first gold whenever you like.

Golden now, silver whenever

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

Boards are pulled one at a time by selectors with thirty years at the stacks, chosen for tone and figure that read at eye level, then dried twenty days in a controlled kiln. Stock with twist, checks, or dull grain never makes the cut.

The shaping process

The shaping process

The abstract form is traced from templates, then bandsawn slightly proud of the line, leaving material for the carving that opens each negative space.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

Faces and inner edges are sanded by hand through successive grits until every opening feels smooth to a passing fingertip.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Oil goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. The maker checks the hanging hardware and finish before the piece is signed out.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

What is the wall art made from?
It is carved from solid teak panels — real relief cut into the wood, so the piece has genuine depth and shadow, not a printed pattern over board. It deepens in tone as it ages instead of fading like a laminated print.
Can a piece be scaled to my wall?
Yes — dimensions scale to your wall since each piece is made to order. Send a photo of the space with rough measurements and we will suggest proportions; tape a paper outline first to judge the presence.
How does it hang?
Hanging hardware is fitted at the workshop — keyhole slots or French cleats by weight — with matching anchors for drywall or masonry in the box. Most pieces hang on two screws, level and flush to the wall.
Does wooden wall art need maintenance?
Dust with a soft dry brush or cloth, and keep it off walls with hard afternoon sun so the tone deepens evenly. Nothing to off-gas, nothing to refinish — that is the whole routine, year to year.
How does wall art ship?
Each piece is made to order and ships flat in a rigid, foam-lined carton with the hardware taped inside and packed like it matters. Photograph the carton on arrival, and tracking is emailed once it ships.
Is it too deep for a narrow entryway?
No — the carving carries the depth visually while the piece itself hangs close to the wall, clear of shoulders and coat sleeves. Its tall, slender format is drawn specifically for entry and hallway walls where floor space is already spoken for.
