Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Wall light

Carved teak, wired, glowing by five

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

A branch of light that turns a wall into atmosphere.

The designers studied how limbs grow — where they fork, how they taper — then set the backlight to trace every curve. An artisan shapes each limb from solid teak, sands it through five grit stages, oils it, and runs the wiring lit on the bench before crating. It arrives fully wired, bulb included; the plug is left off so you fit the one your outlet takes, or hardwire it clean.

Most rooms are lit from the ceiling, hard and flat, while the biggest wall in the house stays blank. This piece answers both at one switch: carved grain by day, a pooled amber halo by night that makes the paint itself look warmer. Dinner guests cross the room to trace the limbs — and the host gets to tell the story exactly once a night.

  • Replaces a harsh overhead with a warm evening glow
  • Reads as carved wall art even switched off
  • Arrives fully wired, bulb included — add your own plug
  • Halo light flatters entryways, dining walls, and bedrooms
  • One fixture does the work of lamp and artwork

It fits real homes.

Clocks fall back

Clocks fall back

First Sunday of November, dark by five. The switch flips on the way through the room and the wall turns amber, branches standing in relief against their own shadows — winter's early evenings suddenly have somewhere to land.

Home from the airport

Home from the airport

Ten past eleven, bags still in the hall, the wall light already glowing on its timer. After a red-eye, the house greets you with warm wood and a low halo instead of a bright ceiling fixture — the difference between arriving and just getting in.

December on low

December on low

December 26th, the third gathering in two weeks, and the overheads never came on once. The halo behind the branches held the room at a murmur from the first pour to the last dried dish, and the host finally exhales.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Tight, straight, even grain runs the length of every limb — and under the backlight the figure stands in relief, reading like grain lit from inside the wood, deeper at night than it ever looks at noon.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak carries its own natural oils. We hand-rub more into each branch, a warm satin that catches the halo instead of bouncing it — and out of the crate the piece smells like a woodshop, not a warehouse, because there is nothing on it to off-gas.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

At roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, with some of the lowest shrinkage of any hardwood, the limbs hold their line through dry furnace winters — twenty days of controlled kiln drying finished the wood's moving before it ever reached your wall.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

Outdoors teak silvers; indoors, away from rain and UV, it slowly deepens toward honey-amber under the bulb's gentle heat. If you ever want the fresh-cut gold back, a light sanding and a thin coat of oil do it in an afternoon.

Golden now, silver whenever

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

Teak is chosen limb by limb for tone and figure that read well under backlight — the maker holds each board to a bench lamp before it earns a place. Twisted or dull stock never makes the cut.

The shaping process

The shaping process

The branching form is traced from templates, then bandsawn slightly proud of the line — material held back for the rasps that taper every limb toward its tip.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

Curves and open spaces are sanded by hand through successive grits until every edge feels right against an open palm — the tightest hollows finished with folded paper where no block fits.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Oil goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. The maker wires the light, runs it lit on the bench, checks every limb under its own glow, and signs off before it leaves the workshop.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

How does the wall light mount?
It mounts to a standard wall box, or hangs on a discreet cord to the nearest outlet — the listing says which. Either way the bracket and hardware for your piece are included, and it arrives ready to hang, not as a bag of parts.
Is it hardwired or plug-in, and who should install it?
The listing states which, and it is confirmed before shipping; the wiring follows US standards throughout, run lit on the bench before crating so it ships proven, not presumed. For a hardwired piece, a licensed electrician is the safe way to connect it to the wall box; a plug-in version reaches an outlet on its cord and is ready to switch on the day it goes up.
What bulb does it take?
It arrives fully wired with the bulb noted on the listing already included — usually a warm Edison or LED. An LED runs cool, which keeps the heat off the carved grain around the socket.
Will the wood dry out or warp near the bulb?
No. The teak is hand-picked by selectors with thirty years at the lumber stacks, then kiln-dried for twenty days at a controlled temperature — slow enough that the moisture leaves naturally, hot enough to settle any insects and their eggs. The limbs finish moving before they are shaped, so the piece holds its line on a dry furnace wall, and a cool LED keeps the warmth gentle.
How does it ship?
Every lamp is made to order and packed in a foam-fitted box, each limb cushioned separately and the wiring secured. Tracking is sent the day it ships; photograph the box before unpacking if anything looks crushed, and if damage slips through we make it right.
