Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Wall art

The wall the forest drew

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

A composition no artist sketched — it grew this way.

This piece begins as naturally formed tree roots, intertwined over decades underground. The designers studied how the limbs read against a flat wall; an artisan selects each root for its curve, cleans and shapes it by hand, then joins the composition so the movement flows in one direction. The wood is dried through before assembly, so the joins hold and nothing shifts once it is on the wall.

The category answers 'is this real or a print' with silence and a 3D render. This answers with depth you can put a hand into — real shadow, real relief. No two roots twist the same way, so your piece will not match the photos exactly, which is the whole point of one of one. Guests cross the room to look closer, and you get to say nothing here was carved. It arrived shaped.

  • Gives a blank entry or living-room wall real depth
  • Casts moving shadows as daylight crosses the room
  • Anchors a sofa wall without shelves or a gallery grid
  • Reads as sculpture from the street-side window at night
  • Hangs on two screws and asks only an occasional dusting

It fits real homes.

Light on the move

Light on the move

Morning sun rakes across the limbs and throws long shadows to the left; by late afternoon they have swung right. It is the one piece in the house that changes with the hour, and nobody planned that part.

The dinner-party detour

The dinner-party detour

Coats are barely off before someone drifts toward the wall, glass in hand, tracing a root line with one finger a beat longer than needed. Dinner starts five minutes late. Then the question the host quietly loves: who made this?

The call backdrop

The call backdrop

Every video meeting frames the sculpture over your shoulder at 8:58 on a Tuesday. On camera it reads as one deliberate focal point where a blank wall used to be — one warm thing in a grid of flat rooms, and quietly how the space reads back to a screen.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Tight, straight, even grain follows each limb from root to tip — the calm figure that made teak the wood collectors ask for by name. Under a lamp the low sheen shifts along every curve as you move past it.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak carries its own natural oils. An artisan hand-rubs more along every curve and knot, deepening the gold to a warm satin that never feels like plastic — and the piece arrives smelling faintly of wood, nothing to off-gas into the room.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

At roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, with some of the lowest shrinkage of any hardwood, the joined limbs hold their form season after season — no gap opening at a join the first dry winter the furnace runs.

Golden now, silver whenever

Indoors teak deepens toward amber rather than going grey; the silver patina needs outdoor sun and rain. Hang it off a wall with hard afternoon sun and the tones shift slow and even, the way the same wood ages on a covered porch.

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

Roots and limbs are chosen one at a time for movement and sound heartwood, dried through so the joins will hold. Dull or brittle stock never joins a composition.

The shaping process

The shaping process

Each limb is trimmed slightly proud of its final line, keeping the natural twists that give the arrangement its rhythm.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

Every curve is sanded through successive grits until the surface invites a passing hand, without erasing the knots and character that made the root worth keeping.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Oil goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. The maker load-tests the joins and hanging points before the piece leaves the workshop.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

What is the wall art made from?
Wall art in this collection is worked from solid wood — carved, joined, or arranged from real roots and slices — so the piece has genuine depth and shadow, not a printed pattern under glass. What you touch is timber all the way through.
Can a piece be scaled to my wall?
Yes — dimensions scale to your wall since each piece is made to order. Send a photo of the space with rough measurements and we will suggest proportions before the build starts.
How does it hang?
Hanging hardware is fitted at the workshop — keyhole slots or French cleats chosen by weight — with matching anchors in the box. Most pieces hang on two screws into studs or drywall anchors.
Does wooden wall art need maintenance?
Dust with a soft dry brush or cloth, and avoid a wall with hard, one-sided afternoon sun so the tones deepen evenly rather than fading on one face. Nothing else is required year to year.
How does wall art ship?
Each piece is made to order and ships flat in a rigid, foam-lined carton with the hardware taped inside. Photograph the carton before the driver leaves; tracking is emailed once it ships.
Are the limbs in this piece really natural, or carved to look that way?
They are naturally formed tree roots, selected for their intertwined curves and joined into one composition. The twists, knots, and grain arrived with the wood, so your piece will differ slightly from the photos — that variance is the provenance of a one-of-one, not a defect.
Will the wood warp or crack once it is on the wall?
No. Long before the roots are joined, they are hand-picked by wood selectors with thirty years at the lumber stacks, then kiln-dried for twenty days at closely held temperatures — slow enough for the moisture to leave evenly, hot enough to end any insects or their eggs in the wood. The piece has finished moving before it reaches the wall, so the joins hold and nothing shrinks, warps, or splits with the seasons.
