Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Wall tree bookshelf

The tree their books grow on

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

A five-foot tree that turns reading into climbing.

Spanning 60 by 60 inches on the wall, the tree's soft, curving branches were drawn by our designers to double as shelves. An artisan shapes each limb from solid teak, sands every curve smooth for small reaching hands, and rubs a natural oil finish into the whole spread by hand — no film to chip off near a crib.

A nursery is the one room a parent reads the label on: food-safe, low-VOC, no formaldehyde. This has nothing to off-gas — solid teak, no particleboard core, no adhesive smell — so it arrives smelling faintly of wood and cured oil, safe for the toddler who mouths everything. It is the wall the room gets arranged around, and a handmade tree holding the books is a hard gift for grandparents to top.

  • Books everywhere? Branch shelves display them face out
  • Low limbs sit within a toddler's reach
  • Upper branches hold keepsakes and framed photos
  • Reads as wall sculpture even between books
  • 60-by-60-inch spread anchors a nursery wall

It fits real homes.

The bedtime pick

The bedtime pick

Pajamas on, one book to choose. Small fingers walk the low branch, pull tonight's story, and the ritual that ends every day starts at the tree — the limb smooth and warm under a hand where a laminate edge would feel cold and hard.

A branch a year

A branch a year

Board books on the bottom limbs, chapter books climbing higher as the reader does. The tree keeps a visible record of how far they have come, and a dented corner from a thrown truck spot-sands out in ten minutes rather than staying a scar.

Naptime light

Naptime light

Afternoon sun crosses the nursery at three and the branches lay soft shadows over the crib wall. The room's quietest hour has its own slow show, and by a south window the teak deepens toward honey-amber over the first year rather than fading.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Along every branch, teak's tight, even grain follows the limb's curve, so each shelf reads as grown rather than cut — warm honey where the nursery light lands, no two limbs alike.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak carries its own natural oils. We hand-rub more into the branch faces and trunk, deepening the golden tone to a warm satin that never feels like plastic — a low-VOC oil, food-safe once cured, that opens smelling of wood, not chemicals.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

At roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, with some of the lowest shrinkage of any hardwood, the mounted limbs hold their line under a growing library through dry winters and humid summers without loosening.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

In a bright nursery window's sun, teak drifts toward silver-grey over the years — a surface change only, a paper-thin layer. A light sanding and fresh oil bring the branches back to gold whenever you like.

Golden now, silver whenever

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

Teak stock is pulled one board at a time and matched by tone across trunk and branches, then kiln-dried so the wood has finished moving. Twisted or dull figure never makes the cut.

The shaping process

The shaping process

Each curving branch is traced from templates, then bandsawn slightly proud of the line, leaving material for the handwork on every curve.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

Every limb and edge is sanded by hand through successive grits until each shelf feels safe and smooth to a child's reaching hand — no splinter, no sharp arris.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Oil goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. The maker checks mounting points, alignment, and finish before the tree is signed out.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

What exactly is a wall tree bookshelf?
Each wall tree is cut from solid teak into a branching form whose limbs are the shelves — a piece that reads as sculpture from the sofa and works as storage up close. Solid wood, not a printed panel, so it survives a childhood of handling.
What size is this tree, and can it change?
This build spreads 60 by 60 inches — scaled to a nursery or reading-corner wall. Larger spreads and extra branches are made to order, and low limbs can be positioned within a small reader's reach; tape the outline on the wall first to picture it.
How does it mount to the wall?
The tree mounts in sections on included hardware, anchored into studs at marked points — so a climbing toddler cannot pull it down. A paper template locates every screw; two people make quick work of the larger spreads.
Is the finish safe for a nursery?
Yes — a natural penetrating oil, low-VOC and food-safe once cured, with no lacquer film and no particleboard core, so there is no formaldehyde adhesive and nothing to off-gas. It arrives smelling of wood, not chemicals, and a mouthing toddler meets only cured oil and smooth teak.
How does it ship?
Wall trees ship made to order in flat, sectioned cartons with templates and hardware packed first on top. Tracking follows the shipment from the workshop to your door; photograph the carton before the driver leaves, and if anything arrived damaged we make it right.
