Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Tree coat rack

The tree that guards your front door

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

An entryway piece that works like storage and stands like sculpture.

The frame rises like a trunk, with a hanging rod, branching shelves, and a shoe platform grown into one form — solid teak throughout, not a veneered post with pegs screwed on. The designer studied how a family actually enters a house — coats first, shoes second, hats last — and the artisan shaped each limb by hand to hold that sequence.

The first six feet inside a door is where the day piles up: coats over chairs, shoes underfoot, keys anywhere but findable. One trunk ends that, giving every load its own limb. A neighbor stepping in from the rain hangs a coat, looks up the grain, and asks if it was carved from a real tree. Close enough, you say.

  • Sturdy rod hangs the family's daily coats off chairs and floor
  • Low platform lines up shoes, ending the pile by the door
  • Branch shelves hold hats, baskets, and folded linens
  • Vertical footprint fits tight entries and apartment landings
  • Doubles as a bedroom valet for tomorrow's clothes

It fits real homes.

The 7:40 school run

The 7:40 school run

Backpacks on the low branches, sneakers lined on the shoe shelf, jackets on the rod — three kids out the door in four minutes because everything hangs at the height they can reach. The clutter stops at the trunk instead of spreading down the hall.

First snow, wet wool

First snow, wet wool

The season's first snow, and winter coats come in heavy and damp to drip-dry from the rod. Teak spent centuries on wet boat decks; a season of soaked wool over a radiator-dry hall does nothing to it but deepen the tone.

Sunday night reset

Sunday night reset

The week gets staged in one pass: gym bag on a branch, work boots on the platform, dog leash on the lowest limb. Monday at 6:45 finds everything exactly where Sunday left it, no scramble by the door.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Tight, straight, even grain runs the length of the trunk and every branch — the calm figure that made teak the wood collectors ask for by name, smooth enough that a coat sleeve slides off without a single snag.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak carries its own natural oils. We hand-rub more into the limbs and shoe platform, deepening the golden tone to a warm satin that never feels like plastic and never smells of lacquer in a closed entry.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

At roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, with some of the lowest shrinkage of any hardwood, the trunk stays planted under a full load of winter coats — and twenty days in a controlled kiln means it will not shift when the furnace runs the air dry.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

Left alone by a window, teak weathers to a refined silver-grey — a surface change only, not rot. A light sanding and fresh oil bring the branches back to gold whenever the mood turns.

Golden now, silver whenever

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

Teak stock is pulled piece by piece, matched by tone across trunk, branches, and shoe shelf. Twisted or dull boards never make the cut.

The shaping process

The shaping process

Each branch is traced and bandsawn slightly proud of the line, leaving material for the handwork that gives every limb its final curve.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

Branches and shelf edges are sanded by hand through successive grits until a coat sleeve slides on without a single catch.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Oil goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. The maker loads the rod, checks the base, and signs the rack out of the workshop.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

Are the racks really shaped like trees?
Each tree coat rack is shaped from solid wood — some from single branching trunks — sanded smooth and finished so coats hang on real limbs rather than plastic pegs.
What heights and branch counts are available?
Heights and branch counts are made to order. A six-foot rack with eight branches handles a family entry; slimmer builds suit apartments. Each one differs slightly, on purpose.
How does it stay upright under a load of coats?
Racks arrive in one or two sections that thread together in minutes. The weighted base keeps things planted; a discreet wall strap is included for busy households.
How do I care for it?
Dust the branches with a dry cloth, and let wet coats drip on a mat first when you can. Teak needs no sealing — its own oils do the work — so a yearly wipe of oil when the trunk looks thirsty is the whole routine. No spray, no film to crack.
How is a tall piece like this shipped?
Every rack is made to order and shipped in a tall padded carton, the weighted base packed at the bottom so nothing shifts. Open and check it before you sign, and note any crushing on the receipt; tracking follows by email the day it leaves.
How many pairs of shoes fit on the base shelf?
The shoe platform on this build comfortably lines up three to four adult pairs, with kids' shoes doubling up. If your entry handles more traffic, ask for a wider platform when you order.
