She pats the space beside her without looking up, and the four-year-old climbs on, still holding the book he can't read yet. For twenty minutes there is one voice, one turning page, and two people sharing a seat built wide enough for exactly this. Nobody planned a reading corner; the reading corner happened, the way the best family habits do — around whichever seat makes room for one more small person. Years from now he may not remember the story. He'll remember that there was always a place beside her, and that he never had to ask for it.
Natural wood, workshop shaping, and a finish selected for everyday use give the piece a durable foundation for real routines. Care still matters, but the design is intended to remain part of the room rather than feel temporary.
