Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Under-sink shelf

Warm storage under the basin

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

The working shelf of the bathroom — built from one raw board.

This under-sink shelf is solid teak with the live edge kept intact — knots, grain, and all. The designers sized it at sixteen by eighteen inches to work beneath most basins; an artisan chooses each board for character, squares the back and sides, and finishes it by hand in its natural tone. Full-thickness wood, no printed veneer to peel where the steam collects.

Most bathrooms answer daily storage with a plastic bin under the sink. This puts a run of real timber there instead — teak dried twenty days in a controlled kiln before a cut, its moving finished, so it holds flat under towels and morning steam for decades. When friends tour the house, this is the small detail that makes them slow down and look twice at the room.

  • Keeps rolled towels within arm's reach of the shower
  • Clears the sink rim of cups, soap, and clutter
  • Works under vessel, drop-in, and pedestal-style basins
  • Natural tone warms an otherwise all-tile room
  • Every board's edge is one of a kind

It fits real homes.

Two toothbrushes

Two toothbrushes

Bedtime, both kids on step stools, elbows everywhere. The shelf below the sink catches the cups, the spare toothpaste, and the general chaos — and shrugs off the nightly splashes without a water mark, because oiled teak sheds a splash instead of drinking it.

The towel reach

The towel reach

Out of a hot shower, eyes half closed, one hand finds the rolled towel exactly where it lives on the teak. The wood is warm to the reach where the tile floor underfoot is cold — a small luxury, every single day, without a thought.

The house-tour stop

The house-tour stop

New guests get the walk-through and pause at the bathroom door. It is never the tile they point at — it is the bark-lined shelf under the sink, and the question of where you found it.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Tight, straight, even grain runs the width of the shelf top, broken only by honest knots — the calm figure that made teak the collector's wood. A thumb across it finds the pores fine and close, sealed by the wood's own oils.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak carries its own natural oils. The board is left near its natural tone and hand-finished, so the warmth under the basin comes from the tree itself — and the shelf arrives smelling of wood, with no lacquer film to off-gas in a small closed room.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

At roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, with some of the lowest shrinkage of any hardwood, the shelf holds flat under towels and daily steam alike, through a muggy Southeast summer and a dry winter both.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

Indoors teak deepens toward a richer honey and only silvers outdoors, under sun and rain. Under a bathroom window the tone warms slowly and evenly, and a light sand and re-oil reset it to gold whenever you like.

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

Boards are pulled one at a time, after their twenty days in the kiln, for a live edge worth keeping and sound, characterful grain. Twisted stock never makes the cut.

The shaping process

The shaping process

The back and short sides are squared while the front edge keeps its natural line — cut slightly proud for the handwork ahead.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

Faces and edge are sanded through successive grits until the shelf feels right against a damp, open palm, not merely looks right.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Finish goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. The maker checks flatness with a straightedge and fits the mounts before the shelf is signed out of the workshop.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

Why teak for a wall-hung vanity?
Wall-hung and built from solid teak, the vanities in this collection use the one furniture wood that genuinely belongs in a bathroom — its natural oils and silica are the reason spas and steam rooms bench it, wetter rooms than any home bath.
What widths and cutouts are available?
Widths are built to order from about 24 to 72 inches, with sink cutouts drilled to your specified basin and faucet. Send fixture spec sheets with your order for exact cutouts.
What does installation require?
A concealed steel hanging rail carries the vanity; it must anchor into studs or blocking. Plumbing hookup uses standard US fittings — most plumbers complete installation in under an hour.
How do I keep the teak golden?
Wipe standing water from the counter after use and run the fan. A light re-oiling every few months keeps teak golden in a daily-shower bathroom; any black spots are soap and body oil sitting on the surface, not the wood, and a soft scrub lifts them.
How is the vanity delivered?
Every vanity is made to order and freight-crated with the rail, hardware, and templates packed inside. Photograph the crate before the driver leaves; tracking and a scheduled delivery window come with every order.
Will this shelf fit under my sink?
The standard shelf measures 16 by 18 inches and is tailored to suit a variety of spaces and sinks — free-floating or rack-mounted. Because the front is a live edge, depth may vary slightly board to board; message us with your setup for a custom fit.
