Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Floating shelf

A wave of teak on the wall

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

The shelf that moves even standing still.

Instead of a straight board, each shelf keeps a wavy live edge chosen for its roll and rhythm. The designer set the twenty-five-inch length and seven-inch depth for bedroom walls; the artisan follows the wave with a sander until the whole front line flows under a fingertip. Full-thickness teak, not a hollow box with a printed edge.

A bedside shelf that flexes or pulls its screws loose the first time you lean books on it is the small daily annoyance nobody photographs. This teak dried twenty days in the kiln, so it hangs flat and holds its line through the driest winter. When someone finally notices the front edge isn't straight — and they do — you get to say the tree drew that line, not a machine.

  • No room for a nightstand? Bedside essentials float instead.
  • Dresser top piling up? Frames and candles move up here.
  • Small prints or plants? Seven-inch depth holds them.
  • Want a gallery wall? Pairs or trios stagger together.
  • Too many straight lines? The wave softens the room.

It fits real homes.

Bedside, simplified

Bedside, simplified

Mounted above the nightstand line: tonight's novel, reading glasses, the little clay dish for earrings. 10:40 pm, lamp low, everything the last ten minutes of the day needs floating at arm's reach — and no bulky nightstand crowding the bed.

Over the dresser

Over the dresser

Two frames, a candle, the seashell from the honeymoon. Morning light rolls along the wavy edge below them in a moving line, and the dresser top finally stays clear of the daily pile.

New year, new wall

New year, new wall

January's reset reaches the bedroom: photos reshuffled, one new print, last year's clutter retired. The shelf takes the new arrangement in five minutes and looks like it was planned that way.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Tight, straight, even grain runs the length of the shelf top — the calm figure that made teak the wood collectors ask for by name. The wavy front carries that grain right out to the raw edge.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak carries its own natural oils. We hand-rub more into the top and wavy front edge, deepening the golden tone to a warm satin — it arrives smelling of wood, never of chemicals in the bedroom.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

At roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, with some of the lowest shrinkage of any hardwood, the shelf hangs flat and true even when winter heat drops the room's humidity to a desert reading.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

Left alone in a sunny bedroom, teak eases toward a refined silver-grey — a surface change only. A light sanding and fresh oil bring the wave's gold back anytime.

Golden now, silver whenever

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

After twenty days of controlled drying, boards are pulled one at a time for the roll of their live edge. Stock with twist, checks, or dull figure never makes the cut.

The shaping process

The shaping process

The shelf is cut slightly proud of its line, the wave left intact while the back and mounting face are trued dead flat for the wall.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

The wavy edge is sanded by hand through successive grits until the whole front line flows smoothly under an open palm.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Oil goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. The maker checks flatness, bracket seat, and finish before the shelf ships.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

Are the shelves solid or hollow inside?
Every shelf in this collection is solid teak front to back — full-thickness stock, not a hollow torsion box — finished on all faces so the grain shows from below as well as above. That is what lets you sand out a mark and re-oil it; a hollow printed shelf cannot be refinished.
What sizes can I order?
Lengths are cut to order, from a 12-inch accent to a 72-inch span. Depth adjusts too: six inches for frames and spices, ten or more for books and dishes.
What is included for mounting?
Concealed steel brackets and hardware ship with every shelf, sized to its length. Anchor into studs for book loads; the included heavy-duty anchors handle lighter styling on drywall, and nothing shows from the front.
How do I care for them?
Dust with a dry cloth and rotate displayed objects occasionally so sunlight tones the wood evenly. A wipe of oil once a year keeps the front edge rich, sooner in a dry forced-air winter.
How are shelves packed?
Shelves are made to order, wrapped individually, and shipped in rigid cartons with brackets and template packed alongside. Tracking is emailed the day your order leaves the workshop.
Is the price per shelf, and will my wave match the photos?
The price covers one shelf at the standard twenty-five-by-seven-inch size. Each wavy edge follows its own board, so your wave rolls a little differently than the photos — no two are alike, which is the point of a real live edge.
