Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Tree coat rack

Coats on branches, shoes at the roots

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

An entryway tree that puts order where the chaos lands.

The design solves the doorway in one silhouette: curving teak branches carry coats and hats up high while wooden bars at staggered heights rack shoes below. The artisan selects each branch for its reach, shapes the hanging bars by hand, and sands every curve smooth — solid teak throughout, no plastic pegs to snap off in a year.

A coat closet you do not have is the daily friction, and a flat-pack rack that racks loose inside a month is the usual bad fix. This one stands on a weighted base and holds four winter parkas without a lean, because the teak dried twenty days in the kiln and barely moves once it is home. Buy it once and the entry starts keeping itself.

  • Nowhere to hang coats? Branches take jackets, hats, and scarves.
  • Shoes by the door? Staggered bars rack the daily rotation.
  • Keys and frames to set down? Smaller limbs hold them.
  • No coat closet in the hall? This stands in for one.
  • Worried it looks bare empty? It reads as sculpture unloaded.

It fits real homes.

The 7:40 scramble

The 7:40 scramble

7:40, backpacks half-zipped, one shoe missing — except it isn't. Both pairs sit on their bars where they landed yesterday, and the school run leaves on time for once. The lowest rail has gone smooth where sneakers scuff it every single morning.

Winter guests

Winter guests

The Saturday before Christmas, four heavy coats arrive with the dinner guests. The branches take them all without a groan, scarves looped over the shorter limbs, and nobody's parka ends up in a heap on the bed.

The small shelf up top

The small shelf up top

A smaller branch holds the things that greet you home — a framed photo, the good sunglasses, sometimes a sprig of eucalyptus that leaves the whole entry smelling like a walk in the cold.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Tight, straight, even grain runs the length of every branch and shoe bar — the calm figure that made teak the wood collectors ask for by name. Bare hands meet it a dozen times a day and it only gets smoother.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak carries its own natural oils. We hand-rub more into the trunk and hanging bars, deepening the golden tone to a warm satin that shrugs off the drip of a wet raincoat instead of clouding.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

At roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, with some of the lowest shrinkage of any hardwood, the rack carries winter coats without wobble even as forced-air heat dries the hallway all season.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

Left alone, teak weathers to a refined silver-grey — a surface change only, not damage. A light sanding and fresh oil bring the trunk's gold back anytime.

Golden now, silver whenever

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

After a twenty-day kiln cycle, branches are chosen one at a time for curve and hanging reach. Limbs with twist, checks, or dull figure never make the cut.

The shaping process

The shaping process

Hanging bars and shoe rails are cut slightly proud of the line, leaving material for the handwork that finishes each curve where a coat will slide.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

Every bar and branch tip is sanded by hand through successive grits — coats and hands meet this wood daily, so it must feel right.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Oil goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. The maker loads the rack and checks its stance before it leaves the workshop.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

Are the racks really shaped like trees?
Each tree coat rack is shaped from solid teak — some from single branching trunks — sanded smooth and finished so coats hang on real limbs rather than plastic pegs that crack under a wet parka.
What heights and branch counts are available?
Heights and branch counts are made to order. A six-foot rack with eight branches handles a family entry; slimmer builds suit apartments. Each one differs slightly, on purpose.
How does it stay upright under a load of coats?
Racks arrive in one or two sections that thread together in minutes — no wordless diagrams, no leftover screw. The weighted base keeps it planted, and a discreet wall strap is included for busy households that lean four coats on one side.
How do I care for it?
Dust the branches with a dry cloth and let wet coats drip on a mat first when you can. A yearly wipe of oil keeps the trunk rich; the teak's own oils handle the daily damp.
How is a tall piece like this shipped?
Every rack is made to order and shipped in a tall padded carton with the base packed at the bottom. Tracking follows by email the day it leaves.
How many shoes and coats does this build hold?
This seventy-by-sixty-inch build comfortably takes a family's daily rotation — several coats on the upper branches, four to six pairs of shoes across the staggered lower bars, with limbs left over for hats and scarves.
