Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Floating vanity shelf

The powder room's one warm line

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

One solid teak board, and the smallest room stops feeling small.

This vanity shelf is cut from solid teak, sixteen by eighteen inches, with the live edge left where the tree put it. The designers kept the profile shallow for tight powder rooms; an artisan selects the board, squares the back and sides by hand, and finishes it to show every year of grain — not a stain color printed over a core.

A wall of decor cannot fix a powder room that reads like an afterthought; one honest surface can. Kiln-dried twenty days before it is cut, the teak has finished its moving, so the board hangs flat under a basin through years of humidity. Guests form their quietest opinion of a house at that sink — and a single natural edge, caught while they dry their hands, does more than a shelf of ornaments would.

  • Carries a basin or sits beneath one as open storage
  • Shallow profile suits tight powder rooms and half baths
  • Holds guest towels, soap, and a small plant
  • Free-floating or rack-mounted, to suit your wall
  • One-of-a-kind edge — no two boards repeat

It fits real homes.

The hand-wash pause

The hand-wash pause

A guest turns off the tap, reaches for the towel, and stops — one finger following the bark line under the basin. They ask about it before they ask what is for dessert, and the host has the answer ready.

Under the stairs

Under the stairs

The half bath tucked under the staircase was an afterthought for years, all landlord-beige and cold tile. One solid teak shelf later, it is the room visitors mention on the way out — proof that no space is too small to build well.

Thanksgiving traffic

Thanksgiving traffic

Eighteen relatives, one powder room, a steady rotation from noon to dark. The shelf holds soap, folded towels, and its composure while every aunt and cousin files through, and the warm wood is the last thing each one touches on the way out.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Tight, straight, even grain runs the width of the shelf face, from squared back to live front edge — the calm figure that made teak famous. A finger over the bark line finds it worn smooth, no splinter after a lifetime of use.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak carries its own natural oils. The board is left close to its natural tone and hand-finished, so the color comes from the tree and its years, not a stain — and it arrives smelling faintly of wood, not of fresh coating.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

At roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, with some of the lowest shrinkage of any hardwood, the shelf stays flat beneath a sink through a humid August and the dry weeks the winter furnace runs.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

Indoors teak deepens toward a richer honey rather than going grey; the silver patina needs outdoor sun and rain. In a bright powder room the tone warms slowly and evenly, and a light sand and re-oil reset it whenever you like.

Golden now, silver whenever

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

Solid teak boards are pulled one at a time for a characterful live edge and sound grain, then kiln-dried twenty days until their moving is finished. Cracked or dull stock never makes the cut.

The shaping process

The shaping process

The back and short sides are squared true while the front keeps its natural line — cut slightly proud for the handwork ahead.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

Top, underside, and edge are sanded through successive grits until the bark line feels smooth against an open palm, not merely looks it.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Finish goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. The maker lays a straightedge across the shelf to check flatness and the mounting points before it leaves the workshop.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

Why teak for a wall-hung vanity?
Wall-hung and built from solid teak, the vanities in this collection use the one furniture wood that genuinely belongs in a bathroom — its natural oils and silica are the reason spas and steam rooms bench it, wetter rooms than any powder room will ever be. Even a board like this one is given twenty slow days in the kiln before it is cut — enough heat to end any insect or egg in the wood, and enough drying that it has stopped moving and hangs flat under the basin through a humid August.
What widths and cutouts are available?
Widths are built to order from about 24 to 72 inches, with sink cutouts drilled to your specified basin and faucet. Send fixture spec sheets with your order for exact cutouts.
What does installation require?
A concealed steel hanging rail carries the vanity; it must anchor into studs or blocking. Plumbing hookup uses standard US fittings — most plumbers complete installation in under an hour.
How do I keep the teak golden?
Wipe standing water from the counter after use and run the fan. A light re-oiling every few months keeps teak golden in a daily-shower bathroom; a powder room sees far less use, so once or twice a year is plenty.
How is the vanity delivered?
Every vanity is made to order and freight-crated with the rail, hardware, and templates packed inside. Photograph the crate before the driver leaves; tracking and a scheduled delivery window come with every order.
Will my shelf's live edge match the photos exactly?
No two will. The front edge follows the natural line of each individual board, so the shape and depth vary slightly piece to piece; the back edge and short sides are cut straight. The standard shelf is 16 by 18 inches, and it can be free-floating or rack-mounted.
