What is under the cushions?
Nothing needs to be — this lounge chair is carved solid teak through and through. Seat and back form one continuous sculpted wave, hand-sanded smooth, so there are no cushions, springs, or upholstery to sag or wear out.
Can I customize the size and fabric?
Size, yes — each chair is built to order, so seat height and overall scale adjust to your nook. There is no fabric on this all-wood design; for softness, a sheepskin or favorite throw drapes naturally over the wave.
What assembly and capacity should I expect?
Legs thread on in minutes; everything else arrives assembled. Two people should carry the frame. Weight capacity is conservative — a full row of adults is the design case, not the limit.
How do I maintain it?
There is nothing to vacuum or reupholster — the whole chair is oiled solid teak. Wipe it with a dry or barely damp cloth, re-oil once a year when the wood looks thirsty, and keep it a couple of feet from a heat vent in winter. The seat is stable long before it is carved — the teak spends twenty days in a temperature-controlled kiln, so the moisture leaves slowly and evenly and the wood does its shrinking there, not later in a dry, heated room. A belt-buckle scratch spot-sands and re-oils at home in about ten minutes.
How is this chair delivered?
It is heavier than it looks and ships freight — bagged, blanket-wrapped, and crated the way a solid-teak piece has to be. You get tracking and a scheduled delivery appointment, and if it arrives with any transit damage, photograph the crate before the driver leaves and write support@timbervintique.com; we make it right.
