Natural grain. Finished by hand.

The form of this sofa frame is shaped by natural grain, then its visible wood surfaces are refined and finished by hand.

Not included: cushions, pillows, upholstery, seat pads, throws, mattresses, bedding, and hanging ropes; loose mounting or installation hardware; other non-wood accessories; decorative objects and styling props.

Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Handcrafted solid wood · Wood-frame sofa

The wood-frame sofa the whole house claims

The piece

A sofa built on wood, not staples and cardboard.

Tip most sofas over and you find stapled plywood, cardboard webbing, and a frame engineered to sag by year five. This one leads with its structure: a solid teak frame shaped by hand, joints fitted wood to wood, sanded through five grits until the curves run smooth under a palm. The oil goes on last, rubbed in, never sprayed.

In the living room it anchors the seating the way a fireplace anchors a wall. Press a forearm into the arm rail and nothing flexes, nothing creaks — the shake test buyers run on delivery day comes back quiet. Ten years in, the exposed frame is the reason the piece still reads as chosen, not survived.

  • Wide teak arms hold a mug steadier than most side tables
  • Solid frame takes kids, pets, and daily sprawl without loosening
  • Cushions lift off for cleaning; the frame wipes with a damp cloth
  • Sculptural back looks finished floating mid-room in an open plan
  • Seat depth suits upright reading and full stretched-out naps

It fits real homes.

Fourth quarter pile-up

Super Bowl Sunday, fourth quarter, six people on a sofa built for four. Somebody's sock lands on the arm, the dip bowl migrates, and the frame takes the celebration after the interception without one creak.

The dog's cushion

Weeknight, a sixty-pound dog with a confident tail and a standing claim on the left cushion. Paws hit the seat at every doorbell. Nobody yells — the frame was chosen for exactly this house.

First coffee seat

Six-fifteen on a school morning, the house still dark, first coffee resting on the wide teak arm. Ten minutes of nothing before the lunchboxes start — same seat, same arm, every single day.

Made to order

Every piece is made to order, and dimensions vary from one to the next. Need a different size for your space? Tell us your measurements and we'll build it to fit.

Teak, up close.

The grain

Honey and amber bands run the length of each plank. No two boards repeat, so your piece is the only one with this pattern.

The oils

Teak grows its own protective oils, and they carry the wood through dry winters and humid summers that crack lesser boards. Spills just need wiping up promptly.

The weight

Lift a corner and you feel dense, solid stock with no hollow frames or fillers. Kiln-dried before the build, it sits flat and stays put, even when the heat comes on.

The years ahead

Teak deepens toward a richer brown as it lives with you. A wipe of teak oil twice a year holds the tone you chose.

From plank to piece.

Select

Planks graded by practiced eyes, then kiln-dried slowly until they settle.

Mill

Each board cut, squared, and matched to the pattern.

Shape

Joined and eased with hand tools after the machines have done the rough work.

Finish

Sanded fine, then oiled until the grain reads deep.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

What is under the cushions?
Sofa frames in this collection are solid hardwood with joined corners — no staples into particleboard — under cushions cased in removable, washable covers. The frame is the part built for decades.
Can I customize the size and fabric?
Yes. Frames are built to order, so length, depth, and arm style adjust to your room. Fabric options are shared as physical swatches before we begin the build.
What assembly and capacity should I expect?
Legs thread on in minutes; everything else arrives assembled. Two people should carry the frame. Weight capacity is conservative — a full row of adults is the design case, not the limit.
How do I maintain it?
Vacuum under cushions monthly, rotate them for even wear, and wash covers per their tag. The exposed wood frame wants only a dry cloth and a yearly oil.
How is a sofa delivered?
Sofas are made to order and ship freight, bagged, blanket-wrapped, and crated. We provide tracking and arrange a delivery appointment with you for every order.
Is the frame really solid wood? Most sofas are stapled plywood under the fabric.
Yes — solid teak throughout, with no plywood, staples, or cardboard webbing anywhere in the piece. The boards spend twenty days in a temperature-controlled kiln before shaping, so the joints stay tight when the furnace comes on. The wood is left exposed on purpose: you can see the structure you paid for, and sand and re-oil it at home for decades.
Will it fit through my door?
Measure your narrowest doorway, hallway turn, and stair landing against the listed depth and height before ordering — a carved one-piece frame does not break down the way a flat-pack sofa does, and we would rather solve the turn on paper than on your stairs. Most pieces in this collection pass a standard 32-inch door; for tight approaches, send your measurements to support@timbervintique.com.
