Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Side table

Small table, sculptor's curves, working shelf

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

The side table that earns a second look.

The designers gave it one continuous curve — top flowing into an open base that doubles as a shelf — then proofed the proportions against real sofa arms and chair heights. An artisan carves the form from solid teak, no veneer or filler anywhere, and oils it until the grain rides the whole curve unbroken.

The side table you own now is probably two inches wrong — too tall for the chair arm, too low for a blind reach. This one is built after you order it, sized to your seat, so the cup lands exactly where the hand expects. Years on, that small correctness is the detail owners mention first.

  • Top sized for the mug, the lamp, and the evening glass
  • Open base queues the next two or three reads
  • Light enough to follow the conversation across the room
  • Built to your chair's arm height, not an average
  • Works bedside whenever the living room lends it out

It fits real homes.

Sunday, four o'clock

Sunday, four o'clock

The chair by the window, lamp at 2700K, tea landing on the teak at exactly the height of the chair's arm — the detail nobody plans and everybody feels. One hour, one chapter, no phone, the mug's heat sinking into oiled grain instead of ghosting the finish. The most defended square yard in the house.

The sunny corner

The sunny corner

The cat claimed the warm top two years ago, and the claw-taps show only sideways in raking light. One weekend re-oil resets the surface. The cat keeps the spot.

The movers blanket-wrap the little table like it matters, because it does. The particleboard bookcase stays at the curb with a FREE sign — a move is an audit, and this piece keeps passing.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Tight, straight grain rides the curve from top to base without a break, and in late-afternoon window light the figure catches like brushwork — quiet across the room, detailed at arm's length.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak carries its own natural oils. We hand-rub more into the top and the mouth of the open base — a warm satin your fingertips read as wood, never coating, on the day the box opens.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

At roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, dried until the moisture meter said done, the small top stays flat and the base stays planted from August humidity to January furnace air.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

Indoors this table will not silver — graying needs outdoor sun and rain. Expect a slow warming toward honey-amber, slightly faster on a sunny sill, and a light sanding with fresh oil resets the tone in an afternoon.

Golden now, silver whenever

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

Stock is pulled one piece at a time for a form this visible from every angle, then checked against the moisture meter. Twisted or dull figure never makes it.

The shaping process

The shaping process

The continuous curve is traced from templates, then bandsawn slightly proud of the line — a pencil's width of material left for the handwork that closes the profile.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

Top, curve, and the mouth of the open base are sanded through five grits, coarse to fine, until the whole form feels like one gesture.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Oil goes on in thin coats, buffed between each with a cotton pad. The maker checks level, stance, and finish before the table is signed out.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

How are these small tables built?
Solid wood top to base — small pieces, but built with the same joinery as our dining tables, because side tables get leaned on, sat on, and moved constantly. Pick one up and the heft tells you there is no hollow box under the curve.
Can the height be matched to my sofa?
Yes — heights are made to order, which matters most here. Send us your sofa's arm height and we will build the table two inches under it, or level, as you prefer. It is the difference between a table you use and one you reach past.
Is any assembly needed?
End and side tables ship fully assembled in almost every design. The exceptions arrive with a single bolt-on base and take five minutes with the included key — no wordless diagrams, no leftover screw.
How do I keep the finish even?
Wipe with a slightly damp cloth and dry; coasters under sweating glasses keep the tone uniform. Re-oil once a year — twice for tables that live on a sunny sill — and keep the piece a couple of feet from heat vents in winter. The boards were kiln-dried for twenty days before shaping, so the wood has already done its moving — that clearance is caution, not a fix for a top that would otherwise crack.
How do they ship?
Each table is made to order, wrapped, and double-boxed with corner protection — most travel by standard parcel carrier. Tracking is emailed at dispatch, and if anything arrives dinged, photograph the box and write support@timbervintique.com.
What fits in the open base shelf?
The open base is sized for the things a chair-side table actually collects: a short stack of books or magazines, a small plant, or a folded throw. It keeps the top clear without adding a drawer's bulk.
