Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Outdoor bench

Teak that winters outside, uncovered

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

A flowing form built to sit outside all year.

Hollow contours run through the solid teak form, lightening its mass the way wind carves a dune. This is the same silica-and-oil chemistry that kept ship decks sound for centuries — no paint, no sealer required. Artisans fair each curve by hand with stainless fasteners throughout, because in outdoor furniture the hardware usually rusts long before honest teak complains.

Every teak owner eventually faces the patina decision, so here it is up front: left in full sun and rain, the bench silvers in roughly six to twelve months — a paper-thin surface change, and a light sanding returns the gold whenever you want it back. Golden or grey, both are correct. You choose the story your garden tells, which is the whole pleasure of owning it.

  • Lives outside year-round — no cover, paint, or sealer needed
  • Seats guests at the fire pit without cushions to rescue
  • Hollow contours shed rainwater instead of pooling it
  • Stainless fasteners outlast coastal and poolside air
  • Silver or golden — the patina is yours to choose

It fits real homes.

Saturday in May

Saturday in May

Graduation open house, eighty guests over three hours. The backyard bench holds the photo timeline and then a rotation of grandparents, its curve warm from the afternoon sun. It was here for the tricycle years too.

October shutdown

October shutdown

The lake house closes for winter — pipes drained, heat off until May, months of forty degrees and bone-dry air. In spring the teak bench is exactly where and exactly how they left it, ready before the dock goes in.

April, first warm morning

April, first warm morning

Mug in both hands, sitting where the sun hits the patio first. Last night's rain has already dried off the sculpted seat, and a thumb traces the hollow's edge out of habit while the coffee cools.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Tight, straight grain follows the sculpted seat through every hollow, and after a rain the wet figure darkens to amber before drying back — the calm grain that made teak the wood collectors ask for by name.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak carries its own oils and silica — the reason ship decks used it for centuries. We hand-rub more into the seat for a golden satin, and the wood never splinters when wet the way cedar can.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

At roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, with some of the lowest shrinkage of any hardwood, the seat holds true through freeze, thaw, and August sun — the wet-dry cycling that racks lesser benches apart.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

Full exposure silvers the bench evenly in six to twelve months; a covered porch greys it patchily, so commit to open sky or a spring coat of sealer. Either way the change is paper-thin — sanding brings back the gold.

Golden now, silver whenever

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

Selectors with thirty years at the stacks pull the dense, oil-rich boards outdoor life demands; the kiln's heat also ends any insect story before it starts. Twist, checks, or dull figure never make the cut.

The shaping process

The shaping process

The flowing form and its hollows are traced from templates, then cut slightly proud — leaving material for the handwork that fairs each contour.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

Seat and hollows are sanded through five grits until every curve feels right against bare summer legs — no edge left to press a line into skin.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Oil goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. The maker checks stance on a flat slab, torques the stainless fasteners, and signs the bench out.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

How do these handle full outdoor exposure?
Built from plantation-grown, legally sourced teak — the benches are made for sun, rain, and snow because teak's natural oils and silica do the protecting, the same chemistry that kept ship decks sound for centuries.
What sizes are available?
Lengths are made to order. A 48-inch bench seats two comfortably on a porch; 72 inches handles the whole family along a fire pit. Custom depths are available — send the space and we size to it.
Does it need assembly or anchoring?
Most benches arrive fully assembled with stainless-steel fasteners throughout. Rated conservatively past 500 pounds, they can sit on grass, pavers, or deck boards without any anchoring.
What outdoor care is required?
Hose off pollen each spring with mild soap. Then pick a lane: let it silver (zero product, fully reversible) or one coat of teak sealer each spring — never hardware-store 'teak oil', which contains no teak oil and can feed mildew.
How are outdoor benches shipped?
Made to order, boxed or crated by length, hardware pre-installed, and freight-size pieces scheduled with you before delivery. Photograph the crate before the driver leaves — if transit wins a round, we make it right.
Will rain collect in the sculpted contours?
No — the seat's curves are shaped to shed water rather than pool it, and teak dries quickly once the sun returns. Setting the bench on pavers or gravel instead of bare soil keeps the feet dry too.
