Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Sculptural bench

One line of teak, seat included

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

Seat and sculpture in a single unbroken line.

Seat and base run as one continuous line, drawn until the open space beneath reads as light as the wood above. The bench is built from solid teak blocks joined by hand, every junction faired until the eye stops finding it. To survive freight it ships in sections — the joins are engineered to disappear twice.

Sculptural pieces tend to demand a velvet rope; this one refuses it. Sit, set a coffee down, drag it to wherever the evening needs seats — the penetrating oil spot-repairs at home in ten minutes, so nothing about it is precious except the line. Owning the room's best object and using it daily is the whole point.

  • Extra seating that slides to wherever the evening needs it
  • One form works in the entry, living room, or bed's foot
  • Open curve keeps a small room reading light, not full
  • Catches the day's coat and bag inside the door
  • Stands against a bare wall as sculpture between jobs

It fits real homes.

Friendsgiving overflow

Friendsgiving overflow

Mid-November, an 800-square-foot apartment, seven friends and a table built for six. The bench slides in from the hall to seat the overflow, warm under everyone despite the draft from the door, and by pie it has been promoted to permanent dining fixture.

The taped outline

The taped outline

Before ordering, they taped its outline on the loft floor, where the living room needed a boundary walls never drew. Now the bench holds that line, and the open space under the curve keeps the room feeling light.

Moving day

Moving day

July 31st, the busiest moving day in America. The movers blanket-wrap the bench like it matters, two of them grinning at the weight — while the flat-pack bookcase waits at the curb under a FREE sign, its third move being one too many.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Tight, straight, even grain follows the continuous line from seat into base — and where light grazes the curve, you can watch the figure bend with the form.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak carries its own natural oils; we hand-rub more along the seat and through the curve. The satin surface stays warm under a palm even in an entry that catches winter drafts.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

At roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, dried twenty days in a temperature-controlled kiln, the joined blocks hold their line while the seasons swing the room around them.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

The seat's golden tone deepens gently indoors — it will not silver without outdoor sun and rain. Whenever hands and years soften it, a light sanding and fresh oil bring the glow straight back.

Golden now, silver whenever

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

Solid teak blocks are pulled and matched by tone and grain so the joined form reads as one piece; mismatched figure is culled at the bench, not after.

The shaping process

The shaping process

The continuous silhouette is traced from full-scale templates, then cut slightly proud of the line — leaving material for the handwork that blends every junction flush.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

Seat, curve, and base are sanded by hand through successive grits until the transitions disappear under an open palm.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Oil goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. The maker dry-fits the sections one last time on the bench, checks stance and finish, then packs them.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

How much weight can a bench hold?
Each bench in this collection is built from thick solid-wood stock with through-joinery, comfortably seating two to three adults — conservatively rated well above 500 pounds distributed across the seat, with no hanger bolts to work loose.
What wood and finish do you use?
Most benches are solid teak or acacia, hand-sanded and finished with penetrating oil rather than a plastic-feeling film — the wood stays warm to the touch, and marks spot-sand and re-oil at home instead of needing a refinisher.
Do benches need assembly?
This design ships in separate solid-wood sections to protect the sculptural form in transit. The parts join with pre-fitted connections and the included key — about twenty minutes with a second pair of hands, and the joins land where the eye does not go.
How do I keep the seat looking good?
Wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry. Refresh the oil once or twice a year; small marks blend into the patina, and deeper ones spot-sand and re-oil in about ten minutes.
How are benches packed for delivery?
Every bench is made to order, wrapped, corner-protected, and boxed or crated by size. Tracking arrives at dispatch; photograph any crushed packaging before the driver leaves and note it on the receipt — we handle the rest.
