Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Side table

One carved blank, no joints to loosen

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

One carved curve, and a corner becomes a place.

The designers shaped this table like something grown, working the proportions until the open center read as invitation rather than gap. Each one is carved from a single teak blank — no legs to rack loose, no veneer rim to chip — sanded through five grit stages and finished in natural oil. The oil asks for a yearly wipe; in return the table repairs at home for as long as you keep it.

Side tables are usually the loosest furniture in a room — hollow, light, first to wobble and first to reach the curb. This one is a single piece of dense teak with nothing to work apart, heavy enough to notice when you lift it. Beside the reading chair it holds the tea, the book, and the corner itself — the smallest piece in the room, chosen the most deliberately.

  • Carved nook keeps the book and glasses off the floor
  • Rounded edges spare knees, shins, and toddlers
  • Light enough to follow you from sofa to bedside
  • Oiled teak takes the nightly water glass without rings
  • Slim footprint slips beside almost any chair arm

It fits real homes.

Sunday reading hour

Sunday reading hour

Sunday, four in the afternoon, the lamp at its warmest setting. Tea lands at exactly the height of the chair's arm, and the paperback slides into the carved nook mid-chapter, spine saved. One hour, no phone, the oiled grain catching the last of the light.

Bedside, lights out

Bedside, lights out

Ten-forty on a work night. A glass of water, the phone face-down in the nook where its glow cannot reach, and the last thing your hand touches before sleep is warm teak instead of cold plastic.

Tuesday, 8:58

Tuesday, 8:58

The laptop opens two minutes before the call, tea within reach on the teak, a notebook tucked in the open center. The living room does office duty until five — and a coworker asks about the carved table before the agenda starts.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Tight, straight, even grain follows the curve of the rounded top — run a thumb across it and the surface reads glass-smooth, with a faint warmth stone never has, even on a January morning.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak carries its own natural oils. We hand-rub more into the sculpted body, inside the nook and out — out of the box it smells faintly of wood and oil, not of a factory, because there is nothing here to off-gas.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

At roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, with about half the seasonal movement of oak, the carved form holds its line even when forced-air heat drops indoor humidity into the twenties each winter — the swing that cracks lesser wood.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

Left alone outdoors, teak weathers to silver-grey — a surface change only. Indoors, even by a bright window, the shift is slow, even, and toward honey; a light sanding and fresh oil restore the fresh-cut gold in twenty minutes.

Golden now, silver whenever

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

One teak blank is chosen for the whole form, so grain and tone run unbroken — pulled only after a twenty-day kiln cycle has finished the wood's moving for it. Twisted or dull stock never makes it off the rack.

The shaping process

The shaping process

The organic silhouette is traced from templates, then bandsawn slightly proud of the line — material reserved for the rasps and gouges that open the center by hand.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

Every rounded edge, inside the nook and out, is sanded through successive grits until it feels right against an open palm — the inside curve checked with fingertips, the only tool that fits.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Oil goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. The maker checks the stance on a flat bench, runs a hand through the nook one last time, and signs off before the table ships.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

How are these small tables built?
Solid wood top to base — this design is carved from one teak blank, so there are no joints to loosen and no hardware to retighten. Small tables get leaned on, sat on, and moved constantly, which is exactly why this one is built like our dining tables.
Can the height be matched to my sofa?
Yes — heights are made to order, which matters most on a side table. Send us your sofa's arm height and we will build the table two inches under it, or level with it, as you prefer.
Is any assembly needed?
End and side tables ship fully assembled in almost every design — a one-piece carving arrives as one piece. The exceptions take a single bolt-on base and five minutes with the included key.
How do I keep the finish even?
Wipe with a slightly damp cloth and dry; coasters under sweating glasses keep the tone uniform. Re-oil once a year — more often by a sunny window — and keep the table a couple of feet from heat vents, the placement rule for any solid wood.
How do they ship?
Each table is made to order, wrapped, and double-boxed with corner protection. Tracking is emailed at dispatch — most side tables travel by standard parcel carrier, so no freight appointment is needed and no crate waits at the curb.
What does the open center actually hold?
A couple of paperbacks, a folded throw, a tablet, or the TV remotes — the nook is carved from the same solid blank, sanded smooth inside, so nothing snags. Overall size is confirmed with you before the build begins.
