Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Shower bench

A seat built for steam

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

The one piece of furniture that belongs inside the water.

The curved seat and the shelf beneath it were drawn as one form, proportioned so a towel sits within reach of a seated hand. An artisan shapes the solid teak by hand and stops there — no sealer, no film to peel in the steam. Teak's own oils and silica are why steam rooms and ship decks have trusted this wood for a century.

Everything else in a bathroom is cold to the touch at six in the morning — tile, glass, chrome. This is the warm surface, the same wood as the steam room at the gym, and it turns sitting down in the shower from a concession into the point. Years of daily steam in, it is still the best seat in the house.

  • Warm to sit on when the tile is cold
  • Center shelf keeps razor and towel in seated reach
  • No sealer needed — teak's oils and silica handle steam
  • Adjustable feet steady it on sloped shower pans
  • Moves poolside in June without a second thought

It fits real homes.

The unhurried morning

The unhurried morning

9:30 on a weeknight, end of a long day. The teak seat holds the towel and the glass of wine while the water runs hot and the mirror fogs. Ten quiet minutes in the one room nobody follows you into — the bench is the spa part.

Bath night, handled

Bath night, handled

Tuesday bath night: rinse cup on the shelf, towels on the seat, a parent perched through two rounds of shampoo negotiations. The teak takes every splash, then dries itself overnight with the fan running. Nobody babies it, which was the point of buying teak.

Poolside in dry months

Poolside in dry months

Fourth of July weekend it moves to the outdoor shower — sunscreen and sunglasses on the shelf, wet swimsuits over the seat, chlorine and sun all afternoon. The wood that shrugs off steam indoors does not blink at a summer outside.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Tight, straight, even grain flows across the curved seat and down the sides — and unlike tile or metal, the wood stays grippy underfoot and warm against bare skin when everything else in the room is wet and cold.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak carries its own natural oils — the reason it belongs near water. We hand-rub more into the seat and shelf; after a hot shower the faint, leathery scent of real teak is the wood introducing itself.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

At roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, kiln-dried for twenty days before shaping, the seat stays flat and steady through years of daily steam and 90-degree bathroom swings — and it will not splinter wet-worn the way cedar can.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

Left to weather, teak turns a refined silver-grey — a paper-thin surface change, not decay. A light sanding and fresh oil bring the seat back to gold anytime; in a fan-vented bathroom it mostly just deepens toward amber.

Golden now, silver whenever

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

Boards are pulled one at a time by selectors with thirty years at the stacks, matched by tone across seat and shelf. Stock with twist, checks, or dull figure never makes the cut.

The shaping process

The shaping process

The organic silhouette is traced from workshop templates, then bandsawn slightly proud of the line — leaving material for the handwork that softens every curve.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

Seat, shelf, and every rounded transition are sanded by hand through five grits until the bench feels right against bare skin — the only test that matters here.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Oil goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. The maker loads the seat, checks level and stability on a wet workshop floor, and signs the bench out.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

Is teak really safe inside a running shower?
Solid teak, through and through — the wood commercial spas, steam rooms, and locker rooms default to, in conditions wetter than any home bath. Its natural oils and silica resist water and rot without any sealer, and it stays grippy when wet instead of slick.
Can the bench be sized to my shower stall?
Yes. Benches are built to order, so width and height match your stall or wet room. Send the alcove measurements and we will size the bench with proper clearance — measure between the finished walls, not the framing.
What is the center shelf for?
Whatever the shower needs at hand — a rolled towel, bottles, a wooden comb. It sits below the seat and above the floor, so essentials stay in reach without standing in the spray. Wipe it down along with the seat.
Does it need installation?
None. Shower benches arrive assembled with stainless, rust-proof hardware and adjustable feet that level out the sloped floor every shower pan has. Rated well beyond everyday seated weight, they need no wall attachment — set it down and sit.
What care does teak need in a wet room?
Rinse soap residue off weekly and run the fan so the bench dries between showers — black spots on bath teak are mildew feeding on soap scum sitting on the wood, never the wood itself. A quick squeegee habit means years of zero mold. Re-oil every few months for the golden tone, or let it silver; it stays sound either way.
How does it ship?
Each bench is made to order and shipped in a compact padded box with feet fitted and hardware installed. Tracking is provided on the day of dispatch — it comes out of the box finished, ready for that evening's shower.
