Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Desk

A corner that earns its keep

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

A corner claimed for work worth doing.

The designers laid the desk out the way real work happens: a long run ahead of you, a return beside you, drawers where a reaching hand expects them. Both surfaces are solid teak, kiln-dried for twenty days so they stay flat over their full spans — no laminate skin to bubble at the seams, no particleboard underneath, and a hand-rubbed oil finish that is warm under a resting wrist.

Five years into working from home, the folding table stops being funny. A desk you touch eight hours a day is the strongest cost-per-year math in the house — and this one takes coffee, window sun, and a decade of resting forearms, then sands and re-oils back to fresh at home whenever year ten finally shows.

  • Two monitors on the long run, the paperwork on the return
  • Pens, chargers, and files live in drawers, off the worksurface
  • The return builds left or right to match your corner
  • Coffee rings and pencil dents sand and re-oil at home

It fits real homes.

Tax season

Tax season

An April evening, W-2s and receipts sorted down the long run, the laptop on the return. For once the paperwork has room to lose, and the stamps are exactly where the drawer says they are.

The vanity hour

The vanity hour

A mirror on the short wing turns the corner into a vanity — brushes in the drawer, morning light off the oiled grain, ten unhurried minutes that belong to nobody else in the house.

Homework hour

Homework hour

4 p.m., a seventh-grader claims the return for long division while a parent finishes email on the long run. Pencil dents happen; a Saturday with fine sandpaper and a rag of oil erases them in ten minutes.

Made to order

Every piece is made to order, and dimensions vary from one to the next. Need a different size for your space? Tell us your measurements and we'll build it to fit.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Tight, straight grain runs down both worksurfaces and meets cleanly at the corner — and under a monitor's glow at night the figure stays a calm, even field instead of a distraction at the edge of your vision.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak carries its own natural oils; we hand-rub more into the desktop and drawer fronts. The surface lands warm and matte under a bare forearm — no cold laminate, no lacquer smell, nothing off-gassing in the room where you sit all day.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

At roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, with about half the seasonal movement of oak, both runs stay flat and the drawers keep sliding true from furnace-dry January through humid August — no sticky-drawer season in this desk's year.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

Indoors the desktop will not silver — that takes outdoor sun and rain. Expect it to deepen toward honey-amber where the window light lands; a light sanding and fresh oil level the tone anytime, in less time than a lunch break.

Golden now, silver whenever

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

Selectors with thirty years at the lumber stacks pull boards and match the grain so it carries around the corner; stock with twist, checks, or dull figure never makes the cut.

The shaping process

The shaping process

The L layout is traced from templates, then cut slightly proud of the line — spare material left for the handwork that trues each edge and closes the corner joint tight.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

Worksurfaces, edges, and drawer fronts are sanded by hand through five successively finer grits until they feel right against an open palm and a resting wrist — the two tests a desk actually faces.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Oil goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. The maker runs every drawer a dozen times, checks both spans with a straightedge, and signs the desk out of the workshop.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

What kind of wood are the desks built with?
Desks in this collection carry solid-wood tops thick enough to stay flat over a 60-inch span, joined to hardwood legs or trestles — without particleboard anywhere in the build. That also means no formaldehyde-based adhesives in the room where you sit all day.
Can I customize dimensions or add cable management?
Each desk is built to order, so width, depth, and height adjust to your room and chair. Standing-height builds and cable grommets can be added when you order — measure the corner and your narrowest doorway first.
How hard is assembly?
Legs or trestles bolt to pre-installed threaded inserts in the top — a fifteen-minute job for one person. The included hex key is the only tool you will need; no wordless diagrams, no leftover screw.
How should I treat the worksurface?
Use a desk pad under daily writing if you like a flawless surface, or let the marks accrue honestly — a scratch spot-sands and re-oils at home in about ten minutes, which laminate can never offer. Wipe with a damp cloth and re-oil yearly, when the surface looks thirsty.
How does a desk arrive?
Desks ship made to order with the top and base packed separately in padded cartons, hardware bagged to the frame. Check each carton on arrival and note any damage on the receipt; tracking covers every box in the shipment.
Which side can the return go on?
Either. The L can be built with the return on the left or the right — tell us which corner of the room the desk will occupy, and we orient the return and the drawers to match before the build starts.
