Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Shower bench

The arch that ends the day

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

An arched teak bench that brings the spa home for good.

The flowing arch was drawn to do two jobs at once — stand rock-steady on wet tile and look carved rather than bolted together. Artisans hand-shape the curve from expressive-grain teak, kiln-dried first so it holds true through years of steam, sand every transition smooth, and finish it with a food-safe oil that deepens the figure.

A four-figure bathroom redo usually stops at tile and fixtures and leaves out the one warm, human surface. This is that surface: teak that never goes cold the way stone does, with no hardware-store 'teak oil' treadmill to keep up — just a rinse and the occasional coat. The most utilitarian room in the house becomes the one that finally feels like yours.

  • Somewhere steady to sit? A stable seat in the shower or tub-side.
  • Where do towels go? Holds towels, a robe, or the bath-night book.
  • Needs sealing? Oil-rich teak handles daily water without one.
  • Only for the bath? Doubles as a dressing seat in the bedroom.
  • Ugly at rest? Reads as sculpture when the room is quiet.

It fits real homes.

Tub-side, nine p.m.

Tub-side, nine p.m.

Bath running, phone banished to the counter, a glass of red and a paperback resting on the arch. The bench holds the ritual together night after night, and the wine ring wipes off the oiled teak by morning.

The morning perch

The morning perch

Sitting to pull on socks and lace shoes before a 6 a.m. workout — a stable seat at the exact moment balance is worst, planted flat on wet tile with no rock to it.

Sunday steam

Sunday steam

Long hot shower, eucalyptus clipped to the head, sitting on the teak instead of standing the whole time. The weekend's cheapest luxury, and the one that gets used the most.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Tight, straight, even grain follows the sweep of the arch — the calm figure collectors ask for by name. It stays grippy and warm underhand when wet, where a tiled ledge would go cold and slick.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak carries its own natural oils — the reason it thrives near water without a sealer. We hand-rub more into the curved seat, deepening the gold to a warm satin that arrives smelling of wood, not chemicals.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

At roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, with shrinkage about half that of oak, the arched form stays true through years of daily steam and the bathroom's humid-then-dry cycling.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

Left alone in a wet room, teak weathers toward a refined silver-grey — a surface change only, not rot. A light sanding and fresh oil bring the gold back anytime.

Golden now, silver whenever

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

Boards with expressive, flowing grain are chosen to follow the arch, then kiln-dried twenty days so the wood is done moving. Stock with twist, checks, or dull figure never makes the cut.

The shaping process

The shaping process

The arch is traced from templates, then bandsawn slightly proud of the line, leaving material for the handwork that fairs the curve.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

The seat and underside of the arch are sanded through successive grits until the whole curve feels right against bare skin.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Protective oil goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. The maker checks stance, joinery, and finish before the bench ships.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

Is teak really safe inside a running shower?
Solid teak, through and through — the wood commercial spas and steam rooms are built from, wetter places than any home bath. Its natural oils and silica resist water and rot with no sealer at all. Black spots people fear are mildew on soap scum, not the wood; rinse and dry it and it stays sound.
Can the bench be sized to my shower stall?
Yes. Benches are built to order, so width and height match your stall or wet room. Send the alcove measurements and we will size the bench with proper clearance.
Does it need installation?
Shower benches arrive assembled with stainless, rust-proof hardware and adjustable feet for sloped shower floors. Rated well beyond everyday seated weight, they need no wall attachment.
What care does teak need in a wet room?
Rinse soap residue off weekly, run the fan, and let the bench dry between showers — a quick squeegee habit means years with no mildew. Re-oil every few months to hold the gold, or let it silver; the wood stays sound either way.
How does it ship?
Each bench is made to order and shipped in a compact padded box with feet fitted and hardware installed. Tracking is provided to you on the day of dispatch.
Is the curved seat stable on wet tile?
Yes. The arch spreads weight across a wide footprint, and the base sits flat with no rocking — the curve is in the profile, not the contact points. Adjustable feet plant it on wet or sloped floors.
