Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Sideboard

Wave-carved doors, solid teak behind them

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

A long, low case where storage learns to move.

Our designers drew the wave pattern dozens of times, matching the depth of every ridge to the length of the case. Carving this deep is only possible in full-thickness teak — chip a veneer door and you find particleboard; here there is nothing under the surface but more teak, every board pulled by selectors with thirty years at the lumber stacks.

If your buffet routine involves borrowing card tables and hunting for platters in three closets, this is the correction: the good linens behind carved doors, serving height on top, everything staged where November needs it. The honest cost is a wipe of oil once a year — ten quiet minutes. And when a guest traces a carved ridge and asks who made it, you have the answer ready.

  • Stages a Thanksgiving buffet without borrowing card tables
  • Where do the platters live the other 363 days? Here
  • Anchors a long dining wall the way built-ins do
  • Serving height — pour and plate while standing
  • Carved front reads as sculpture from the sofa

It fits real homes.

The holiday staging ground

The holiday staging ground

The Wednesday before Thanksgiving, the top becomes the staging line — pies cooling on the oiled teak, sides under foil, serving spoons counted twice. Behind door number two, the platters that surface twice a year, exactly where last November left them.

Five o'clock shadows

Five o'clock shadows

It has been the bar since December 12th — punch bowl, bourbon, a month of sweating glasses. Every ring wipes off the oiled top with the breakfast rag. On the 26th the host closes both doors on the whole season and finally exhales.

Behind closed doors

Behind closed doors

July 31st, the busiest moving day in America. The movers blanket-wrap the sideboard like it matters, because it does — two of them, grunting up the ramp. The flat-box bookcase stays at the curb with a FREE sign.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Tight, straight, even grain runs the full length of the case — and when window light rakes across it at five o'clock, the flat top goes glassy and calm, the still water the carved doors move against.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak carries its own natural oils. We hand-rub more into every carved ridge and hollow, so the crate opens on the faint, leathery smell of a woodshop, not a chemical plant — there is nothing here to off-gas.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

At roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, kiln-dried for twenty slow days before the first cut, the long top stays flat and the doors hold their even gap through a furnace-dry January, when indoor air can drop below 25 percent humidity.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

Indoors, teak only deepens toward caramel with the years; hard direct sun shifts the surface toward silver-grey — a paper-thin change. A light sanding and fresh oil bring the door fronts back to gold in an afternoon.

Golden now, silver whenever

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

Boards for the top, sides, and doors are pulled one at a time from kiln-dried stock and matched by tone across the chalk line on the workshop floor, so the case reads as one piece.

The shaping process

The shaping process

The wave pattern is traced across the door blanks, then bandsawn slightly proud of the line, leaving material for the hand-carving that follows.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

Each ridge and hollow is carved, then sanded by hand through five grits until the front reads smooth to a palm run across it with eyes closed.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Oil goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. Doors are hung, reveals checked against a card's thickness, and the finish inspected before the case ships.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

Is this actually solid wood, or a veneer over a frame?
Solid teak casework — top, doors, and shelves, with no MDF or particleboard anywhere in the piece. Knock anywhere and it answers solid; plan on two adults to move it, which is what solid weighs. The boards spend twenty days in a temperature-controlled kiln before the first cut, and the doors are hand-fitted to close with a soft, even gap.
Can the interior be laid out for my use?
Each sideboard is made to order: length, interior layout, and leg height all adjust. Wine storage, plate racks, and cable openings for a media wall are common additions — tell us what lives inside and we build for it.
What happens at delivery?
Sideboards arrive fully assembled — doors hung, shelves in, no allen key, no lost Saturday. Plan on two people to carry it; once placed, the adjustable levelers square the doors on an uneven floor in minutes.
How do I care for the top and doors?
Wipe the top after serving, use trivets under hot dishes, and oil once or twice a year — a twenty-minute job. That is the tradeoff of an oil finish, and also the point: a worn spot re-oils at home, where a chipped film finish means a refinisher.
How do I dust the carved wave doors?
A soft dry brush or microfiber cloth follows the ridges easily; nothing catches or traps dust the way fabric or cane fronts do. At your yearly oiling, work oil into the hollows with a cloth-wrapped fingertip.
How does a sideboard travel?
Freight, in a fitted crate with the interior braced and the corners blocked. We send tracking and schedule the window with you. Photograph the crate before the driver leaves and note anything on the receipt — if it arrives damaged, we make it right.
