Natural grain. Finished by hand.

The form of this wall shelf is shaped by natural grain, then its visible wood surfaces are refined and finished by hand.

Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Wall-mounted bookshelf

Books held by a piece of tree

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

A bookshelf that hangs like a drawing of the tree it came from.

The designers set the proportions first — 30 inches wide, 32 tall, 14 deep — so a full run of hardcovers sits without crowding the wall. Then an artisan joins solid teak blocks by hand, keeps the live edge where the tree left it, and sands each shelf face until the grain reads clearly across the room. Solid wood, not a veneer skin over a hollow box that sags by year two.

A wall shelf loaded with books is a test flat-pack fails quietly: the particleboard bows in the middle within a year and the brackets creep out of the drywall. Solid teak sized against that load does neither — the shelves hold a packed row dead level, and the mounting anchors into studs. Yours carries the books off the floor and turns them into the wall people study on the way to the sofa.

  • Holds a full run of hardcovers plus framed photos
  • 14-inch depth takes oversize art books and record sleeves
  • Clears the floor for toy bins, baskets, or nothing
  • Open design keeps favorite spines on show, not hidden
  • Works above a sofa, sideboard, desk, or reading chair

It fits real homes.

Bedtime within reach

Bedtime within reach

The picture books live on the lowest shelf on purpose — small arms reach them without asking. Every night the same hand pulls the same worn spine, and the ritual holds. The shelf sits solid at kid-height, no wobble to grow into.

Morning plant light

Morning plant light

A pothos trails off the top shelf, catching the nine a.m. sun before anyone else in the room does. Watering it on Sundays means standing eye to eye with the grain — and the loaded shelf below has not drifted a hair.

Spine browsing

Spine browsing

Guests drift over mid-conversation, heads tilted, reading titles — then a hand comes up and follows the live edge instead. The shelf gets studied more closely than the books on it, and the question always lands: where did you find that.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Tight, straight, even grain runs across each shelf face, carrying the eye along the run — the calm, consistent figure that made teak the wood collectors ask for by name.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak carries its own natural oils. We hand-rub more into the shelf faces and live edge, deepening the golden tone to a warm satin — a finish that dusts clean and re-oils where a lacquer would craze near a sunny wall.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

At roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, with shrinkage about half that of oak, the shelves hold a loaded row of books without bowing or drifting through a dry forced-air winter.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

Indoors the teak only deepens with the years. If a sunny wall ever tones the edges unevenly, a light sanding and fresh oil even the gold back out.

Golden now, silver whenever

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

Teak blocks are pulled one at a time and matched by tone across the shelves, then kiln-dried twenty days so movement finishes before the first cut. Stock with twist, checks, or dull figure never makes the cut.

The shaping process

The shaping process

Blocks are joined and cut slightly proud of the line, keeping the live edge while leaving material for the handwork that trues each shelf.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

Shelf faces, undersides, and the live edge are sanded through successive grits until they feel right against an open palm.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Oil goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. The maker checks the mounting points, level, and finish before the shelf leaves the workshop.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

What are the shelves and brackets made of?
Each wall-mounted shelf here is solid teak with its bracket system chosen for the design — exposed steel on workshop styles, fully hidden on minimal ones — never a veneer over a hollow box. Solid wood is why a packed row will not bow it.
Can I order a full set for one wall?
Lengths, depths, and bracket finishes are all made to order. Outfitting a pantry, an office wall, or one long living-room run? We cut each shelf to your list.
How difficult is installation?
All mounting hardware ships in the box with a paper drilling template. Hang book loads into studs, not just drywall anchors — a packed shelf is heavier than it looks — and use the supplied heavy-duty anchors elsewhere. Most installs take fifteen minutes.
What care keeps them looking new?
Dust regularly and oil the exposed faces once a year. If a shelf carries kitchen duty, wipe cooking film off monthly with a barely damp cloth and dry it.
How do they arrive?
Each shelf is made to order and packed flat with corner guards, hardware bagged and taped to the shelf back. Open and check it before you sign. Tracking is emailed to you at dispatch.
What are this bookshelf's dimensions, and how many books fit?
This build measures 30 inches wide, 32 tall, and 14 deep. Expect roughly two to three feet of shelf run per tier — a few dozen average hardcovers — with the 14-inch depth handling art books and vinyl sleeves.
