Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Floating vanity shelf

A live edge over the sink

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

A live edge that keeps the tree in the room.

An artisan pulls each teak board for a live edge worth keeping, sights it down its length for twist, and dries it twenty days in a controlled kiln before a single cut — a shelf hanging over a sink cannot afford to move later. The edge stays exactly as the tree grew it, and the wall-hung form keeps the floor clear where a small bath needs it most.

Most bath furniture is coated particleboard that swells the first winter the fan gets skipped. Solid teak is the opposite bet — the wood of steam rooms and ship decks, easy in humidity, warm where tile runs cold. Wipe the standing water and this shelf outlasts the tile around it; the guest bath quietly becomes the room you like handing over.

  • Holds soap, a tray, and the daily lineup within reach
  • Open shelf keeps towels dry an arm from the shower
  • Floating mount frees the floor — a small bath reads bigger
  • Teak's own oils handle steam that swells coated boards
  • Live edge — no two shelves repeat

It fits real homes.

Six a.m., by feel

Six a.m., by feel

Half-awake, eyes still shut against the light, your hand finds the folded towel on the lower shelf without looking — dry, an arm from the shower, exactly where it was yesterday. The morning runs on small certainties like this one.

In-laws land tomorrow

In-laws land tomorrow

Thanksgiving week, guests upstairs by noon. Fresh towels stacked, a candle set on the live edge, thirty seconds of straightening — and the guest bath is the one room already ready.

Fourth apartment, first fixture

Fourth apartment, first fixture

The walls are landlord-beige again, but the shelf goes up on two brackets in twenty minutes and the bathroom is suddenly theirs. It comes down just as easily at the next lease.

Made to order

Every piece is made to order, and dimensions vary from one to the next. Need a different size for your space? Tell us your measurements and we'll build it to fit.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Tight, straight grain runs the shelf's full length out to the live edge, where bark line and figure meet — proof no template drew this outline.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak carries its own natural oils, which is why it thrives an arm's length from a shower. We hand-rub more into the top and shelf; after a hot bath the wood smells faintly sweet, never musty.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

At roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, kiln-dried for twenty days before the first cut, the shelf hangs flat and true through years of daily steam and winter furnace air.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

In a steamy bath, untreated teak drifts toward silver-grey — a paper-thin surface change only. Wipe standing water and the drift slows to years; a light sanding and fresh oil bring back the gold anytime.

Golden now, silver whenever

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

Boards are pulled one at a time for a live edge worth keeping, then sighted down their length for twist. Stock with checks or dull figure never makes the cut.

The shaping process

The shaping process

The shelf and bracket lines are traced from templates, then cut slightly proud — leaving the natural edge untouched for the handwork ahead.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

The top, shelf face, and live edge pass through five grades of sandpaper by hand until every contour feels right against an open palm.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Oil goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. The maker mounts the shelf on a shop wall, checks level and bracket seat, and signs off before packing.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

Will these shelves hold up in a humid bathroom?
Yes. Each shelf is cut from solid teak, whose natural oils and silica resist moisture better than nearly any furniture wood — it is the same species commercial steam rooms and spas specify. No coated particleboard to swell, anywhere.
What lengths and depths are available?
Standard lengths run from about 16 to 36 inches, but every shelf is made to order — send us the width of your alcove or wall and we will cut to it.
What does mounting involve?
Shelves ship with concealed brackets and hardware for both studs and masonry. Anchor into at least one stud where possible; over tile, use the included anchors and a quality masonry bit.
How do I care for teak near a shower?
Wipe off standing water and run the fan — black spots on bath teak are mildew feeding on soap film sitting on the surface, not the wood itself. A light re-oiling once or twice a year keeps the shelf golden rather than grey.
How is my order packed and shipped?
Every shelf is made to order, wrapped edge to edge, and boxed with rigid corner guards. You receive tracking the day it ships; if a carton arrives crushed, photograph it before signing and we make it right.
Can the top carry a vessel sink?
Yes — this design is built with a full-thickness top rated for a countertop basin. Tell us your sink and faucet at ordering and the top arrives drilled to match, with mounting sized for the loaded weight.
