Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Floating shelf

The kitchen wall starts working

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

A natural-edge shelf that puts the kitchen's best things at hand.

The designers kept it elemental: a full inch and a half of solid teak, the natural edge intact, the steel bracket hidden inside. A selector with thirty years at the lumber stacks picks each board for the grain that will face the room, a twenty-day kiln dries it until the meter says done, and the maker shapes the edge by hand and oils it to a warm, working finish.

A kitchen shelf earns no forgiveness — sweating glasses, cooking film, a hot pan too close. A hollow-core float sags under a stack of plates and a lacquered one ghosts white where water sits. Full-thickness teak carries the dishes without a bow, and a water ring wipes off the oiled grain or lifts in seconds with a cloth and a warm dry iron. The warmest line in the room is also the hardest-working.

  • Keeps daily mugs, oils, and spices one reach from the stove
  • Full 1.5-inch teak carries dishes without sagging
  • Hidden bracket leaves nothing but wood on the wall
  • Natural edge warms up tile and painted walls
  • Works in corners and in runs of two or three

It fits real homes.

First mug of the day

First mug of the day

Six-fifty, kettle warming, a hand up to the shelf without looking. The favorite mug lives at the same spot on the teak, and the morning does not properly start anywhere else in the house.

Mid-recipe reach

Mid-recipe reach

Onions going in the pan, one hand stirring, the other pulling the olive oil and the dog-eared cookbook off the shelf overhead. Everything the stove needs stays one reach away, no cabinet door swinging into the cook.

Sunday pancakes

Sunday pancakes

Sunday, nine a.m., batter on at least one knob and syrup threatening. The jars and the good bowls sit above the chaos on the teak, and by ten the counter wipes back to calm like none of it happened.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Tight, straight, even grain runs the full length of the shelf face — the calm figure that made teak the wood collectors ask for by name. Backsplash light skims the edge and the grain warms the whole wall.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak carries its own natural oils. We hand-rub more into the top and natural edge, a warm satin that never feels like plastic — and it cleans up with a damp cloth when cooking film settles on it.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

At roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, with some of the lowest shrinkage of any hardwood, the 1.5-inch shelf stays flat under a full row of dishes, through steam and AC swings.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

Left alone, teak weathers toward a refined silver-grey — a surface change only, and one indoor air never starts. A light sanding and fresh oil bring the shelf back to gold anytime.

Golden now, silver whenever

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

Boards are pulled one at a time for the grain that will face the room, then dried twenty days in a controlled kiln. Twisted or dull stock never becomes a shelf.

The shaping process

The shaping process

Each shelf is cut slightly proud of its length, the natural edge preserved exactly as the tree drew it.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

Top, underside, and edge are sanded through successive grits — the underside matters when the shelf hangs at eye level.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Oil goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. The maker checks flatness and bracket seat before sign-out.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

What sets these shelves apart?
These shelves are milled from full-thickness solid boards, finished on every face, and designed to read as a clean line of wood on the wall — no visible brackets, no hollow core.
How is the shelf priced and sized?
The listed price covers one shelf at a full 1.5-inch thickness, and every shelf is cut to order — length to the inch, depth to the job. Corner builds and matched sets cut from the same stock are available on request.
What holds them to the wall?
A hidden steel bracket ships with each shelf, sized to its span. Anchor into studs for heavy loads; the included anchors carry frames and plants on plain drywall.
What ongoing care is needed?
Wipe with a dry cloth and re-oil the front edge yearly — the surface hands and sunlight find first. Wipe cooking film off monthly with a barely damp cloth, and a water ring lifts in seconds with a cloth and a warm dry iron.
How are they packed for transit?
Shelves are made to order, individually wrapped, and shipped in rigid cartons with bracket, template, and hardware included. Tracking is sent as the order leaves the workshop.
