Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Wall tree bookshelf

Real teak branches, holding the family library

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

The one bookshelf that reads as sculpture from the sofa.

Every tree is built from real teak branches, so no two ever repeat. The designer maps the seventy-by-sixty-inch spread on the wall first — where limbs reach, where books rest — then the artisan selects each branch, trues its shelf faces, and sands the bark line smooth. Solid wood through every limb, not a veneered dowel.

Most nursery furniture gets tossed with the crib. This teak spends twenty days in the kiln before it is cut, so it holds its shape through a decade of forced-air winters and grows from board-book height to chapter books without a limb loosening. Load a full wall of reading and it stays put — the kind of piece that ends up named in a will.

  • Want kids to self-serve? Low limbs sit at their height.
  • Fragile pieces to protect? Upper branches stay above small hands.
  • No floor to spare? A full wall of books, none used.
  • Bare outer limbs? Trailing plants drape straight down them.
  • Need one anchor piece? It sets the room's tone.

It fits real homes.

Bedtime, self-serve

Bedtime, self-serve

The lowest branches sit at kid height on purpose. 7:30, teeth brushed, the same small hands pull tonight's story down; every morning it goes back, mostly. The limb has gone satin-smooth right where two-year-old fingers grab it night after night.

The reshuffling ritual

The reshuffling ritual

Sunday afternoon, coffee going cold, you rearrange the branches' cargo — novels here, a pothos there, the ceramic bird one limb higher. It never looks the same two months running, and the teak takes every change without a scuff where frames slide.

Mid-conversation pause

Mid-conversation pause

Someone new stops mid-sentence, crosses the room, and runs a hand up the trunk to check it is real wood. It is, branch to branch. Then the questions start — they always do.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Tight, straight, even grain runs the length of every branch and shelf face — the calm figure that made teak the wood collectors ask for by name. Under a raking lamp the growth lines stand up to the touch.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak carries its own natural oils. We hand-rub more into every limb and shelf top, deepening the golden tone to a warm satin — it comes out of the crate smelling of wood, not of chemicals in a child's room.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

At roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, with some of the lowest shrinkage of any hardwood, the branches hold a full load of books flat and true when December heat pulls the room bone-dry.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

Left alone, teak weathers to a refined silver-grey — a surface change only, not a crack or a flaw. A light sanding and fresh oil bring the tree's gold back anytime.

Golden now, silver whenever

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

After twenty days of controlled drying, branches are chosen one at a time for reach and character. Limbs with twist, checks, or dull figure never make the cut.

The shaping process

The shaping process

The spread is chalked out full size on the bench, then each branch is cut slightly proud of the line, shelf faces trued level so books stand straight.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

Every limb is sanded by hand through successive grits until bark lines and shelf edges feel right against an open palm.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Oil goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. The maker loads every shelf and checks it for level before the tree ships.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

What exactly is a wall tree bookshelf?
Each wall tree is cut from solid teak into a branching form whose limbs are the shelves — a piece that reads as sculpture from the sofa and works as storage up close. Solid wood throughout, so a marked limb sands and re-oils like any teak surface.
Can I choose the height and spread?
Yes. Height, spread, and branch count are made to order — a six-foot tree for a child's reading corner, or a nine-foot spread across a living-room wall.
How does it mount to the wall?
The tree mounts in sections on included hardware, anchored into studs at marked points; a paper template locates every screw. Two people make quick work of the larger spreads, and each anchor point carries far more than the books you will load.
How do I care for it once loaded?
Dust the limbs when you dust the books and re-oil exposed edges once a year, sooner if a dry forced-air winter leaves them looking thirsty. Rearranging the books now and then lets sunlight tone the wood evenly.
How does it ship?
Wall trees ship made to order in flat, sectioned cartons with templates and hardware packed first on top. Tracking follows the shipment from the workshop to your door.
How big is this tree, and will mine match the photos?
This build spreads about seventy inches tall by sixty wide. Because it is made from real teak branches, no two ever branch the same way — yours is one of one, close to the photos and identical to nothing, which is the whole point of buying a real limb over a molded copy.
