Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.
These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.
Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.
Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.
Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

The piece
Every tree is built from real teak branches, so no two ever repeat. The designer maps the seventy-by-sixty-inch spread on the wall first — where limbs reach, where books rest — then the artisan selects each branch, trues its shelf faces, and sands the bark line smooth. Solid wood through every limb, not a veneered dowel.
Most nursery furniture gets tossed with the crib. This teak spends twenty days in the kiln before it is cut, so it holds its shape through a decade of forced-air winters and grows from board-book height to chapter books without a limb loosening. Load a full wall of reading and it stays put — the kind of piece that ends up named in a will.
The lowest branches sit at kid height on purpose. 7:30, teeth brushed, the same small hands pull tonight's story down; every morning it goes back, mostly. The limb has gone satin-smooth right where two-year-old fingers grab it night after night.
Sunday afternoon, coffee going cold, you rearrange the branches' cargo — novels here, a pothos there, the ceramic bird one limb higher. It never looks the same two months running, and the teak takes every change without a scuff where frames slide.
Someone new stops mid-sentence, crosses the room, and runs a hand up the trunk to check it is real wood. It is, branch to branch. Then the questions start — they always do.

Tight, straight, even grain runs the length of every branch and shelf face — the calm figure that made teak the wood collectors ask for by name. Under a raking lamp the growth lines stand up to the touch.
Teak carries its own natural oils. We hand-rub more into every limb and shelf top, deepening the golden tone to a warm satin — it comes out of the crate smelling of wood, not of chemicals in a child's room.
At roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, with some of the lowest shrinkage of any hardwood, the branches hold a full load of books flat and true when December heat pulls the room bone-dry.
Left alone, teak weathers to a refined silver-grey — a surface change only, not a crack or a flaw. A light sanding and fresh oil bring the tree's gold back anytime.
After twenty days of controlled drying, branches are chosen one at a time for reach and character. Limbs with twist, checks, or dull figure never make the cut.
The spread is chalked out full size on the bench, then each branch is cut slightly proud of the line, shelf faces trued level so books stand straight.
Every limb is sanded by hand through successive grits until bark lines and shelf edges feel right against an open palm.
Oil goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. The maker loads every shelf and checks it for level before the tree ships.
One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.
