Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Handcrafted solid wood · Bench

The seat every exit runs through

The piece

Press a forearm on it. Nothing to report.

The first thing anyone does to a new bench is lean on it, because the last one wobbled by spring and the bolts needed tightening three times before summer. This one is joined wood to wood in solid teak — no hanger bolts, no cam locks — with a seat thick enough to carry two adults without a hint of flex.

Set it in the entryway and give it the daily abuse a bench actually gets: kids standing on it, luggage stacked, a grown man dropping down to fight a boot. It takes two people to carry in, which is the point — the weight is the proof you cannot fake.

  • Seats two adults with no flex — joinery, not hanger bolts, underneath
  • Shoe-tying height for kids and grandparents alike
  • Landing zone for grocery bags while keys are found
  • Slides to the table when Thanksgiving runs out of chairs
  • Arrives a finished bench — nothing to assemble, nothing to re-tighten

It fits real homes.

Seven-forty, four shoes

Seven-forty on a school morning. Two kids, four shoes, one bench by the door. Laces get tied, a backpack gets found, the dog supervises, and the door closes at seven-fifty — the whole launch running through one seat.

The doorbell drill

Weeknight, a sixty-pound dog with a confident tail. Every doorbell sends paws onto the bench for a better view of the porch. Nobody yells — the wood was chosen for exactly this house, and the claw taps sand out whenever you decide they should.

Friendsgiving overflow

Mid-November, an 800-square-foot apartment, seven friends and a table built for six. The bench gets dragged in from the entry for the overflow seats, holds two adults and a casserole dish, and is back on shoe duty by midnight.

Teak, up close.

The grain

Honey and amber bands run the length of each plank. No two boards repeat, so your piece is the only one with this pattern.

The oils

Teak grows its own protective oils, and they carry the wood through dry winters and humid summers that crack lesser boards. Spills just need wiping up promptly.

The weight

Lift a corner and you feel dense, solid stock with no hollow frames or fillers. Kiln-dried before the build, it sits flat and stays put, even when the heat comes on.

The years ahead

Teak deepens toward a richer brown as it lives with you. A wipe of teak oil twice a year holds the tone you chose.

From plank to piece.

Select

Planks graded by practiced eyes, then kiln-dried slowly until they settle.

Mill

Each board cut, squared, and matched to the pattern.

Shape

Joined and eased with hand tools after the machines have done the rough work.

Finish

Sanded fine, then oiled until the grain reads deep.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

How much weight can a bench hold?
Each bench in this collection is built from thick solid-wood stock with through-joinery, comfortably seating two to three adults — conservatively rated well above 500 pounds distributed across the seat.
What wood and finish do you use?
Most benches are solid teak or acacia, hand-sanded and finished with penetrating oil rather than a plastic-feeling film, so the wood stays warm to the touch and easy to renew.
Do benches need assembly?
Nearly all benches arrive fully assembled. A few long designs ship with legs removed to survive transit; they bolt on with the included key in about ten minutes.
How do I keep the seat looking good?
Wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry. Entryway benches see boots and bags, so refresh the oil once or twice a year to keep the seat looking cared for.
How are benches packed for delivery?
Every bench is made to order, wrapped, corner-protected, and boxed or crated by size. We send tracking at dispatch and pack for the occasional rough handling of freight.
Will it wobble like the last bench did?
Wobble is a construction problem, not a wood problem — it lives in thin hanger bolts and cam locks working loose. These seats are joined wood to wood in solid teak, thick enough to carry two or three adults without flex, and there is nothing to re-tighten in March because nothing was bolted together in the first place. Press a forearm on the corner the day it arrives; that is the test we build for.
Can it live by the front door through a real winter?
Yes — and the entry is the hardest spot in the house on wood: a blast of freezing air every time the door opens, furnace heat the rest of the day. Our boards spend twenty days in a temperature-controlled kiln before the build, so that swing was finished before the first cut, and teak moves about half as much as oak to begin with. Melted slush wipes off the oiled surface, and if boots ever leave a mark, it spot-sands out in minutes.
