Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Handcrafted solid wood · Hanging swing

The hanging swing that slows the day

The piece

Let it silver, or keep it gold.

Left to full sun and rain, teak turns silver-gray in six to twelve months. Most pages bury that; we lead with it, because the gray is a paper-thin surface layer and a light sanding brings the gold back. Let it weather, or give it one coat of sealer each spring — two right answers, and the swing holds up either way.

The freedom comes from the wood itself. Teak carries its own oils and silica — the chemistry that kept it underfoot on ship decks for centuries — so in the covered porch it shrugs off the humid Augusts and open-window summers that pit the hardware on lesser seats before the wood ever complains.

  • Seats one sprawled reader or two close talkers
  • Joinery cut for moving load — nothing to tighten each spring
  • Oiled teak stays warm to bare skin, unlike metal or plastic
  • Hangs from a porch beam, rafter, or ceiling joist with rated hardware
  • Let it silver outdoors, or seal it each spring — both work

It fits real homes.

First coffee, barely swaying

Six-forty on a June morning, the porch boards still cool, both hands around the mug. One bare foot pushes off every few seconds — the slowest possible start to a Tuesday, on purpose.

Chapter after chapter

Three-forty on a school day, backpack dropped where it landed. The ten-year-old and her library book claim the swing — one leg tucked, the other keeping rhythm, dinner called twice before she hears it.

The debrief

Kids down by eight, and two people take the swing for twenty minutes to trade the day — who said what, what's due when — rocking just enough to keep the porch boards talking.

Teak, up close.

The grain

Honey and amber bands run the length of each plank. No two boards repeat, so your piece is the only one with this pattern.

The oils

Teak grows its own protective oils, and they carry the wood through dry winters and humid summers that crack lesser boards. Spills just need wiping up promptly.

The weight

Lift a corner and you feel dense, solid stock with no hollow frames or fillers. Kiln-dried before the build, it sits flat and stays put, even when the heat comes on.

The years ahead

Teak deepens toward a richer brown as it lives with you. A wipe of teak oil twice a year holds the tone you chose.

From plank to piece.

Select

Planks graded by practiced eyes, then kiln-dried slowly until they settle.

Mill

Each board cut, squared, and matched to the pattern.

Shape

Joined and eased with hand tools after the machines have done the rough work.

Finish

Sanded fine, then oiled until the grain reads deep.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

What are the swing seats made of?
Swing seats in this collection are solid teak or hardwood, shaped and sanded smooth, with rated stainless hanging hardware — a seat meant for weather, bare legs, and decades of use.
What sizes and rope lengths are available?
Seats are built to order in single, two-person, and porch-bed widths. Rope or chain length is cut to your porch or branch height at the time you order.
What can I safely hang it from?
Hanging hardware is included and rated far beyond the posted capacity, but the structure matters most: anchor into a joist, beam, or healthy limb — never decking or drywall.
What seasonal care does a swing need?
Check knots and hardware each season, and hose the seat clean in spring. Outdoor teak may silver over time; re-oil it if you prefer the golden tone.
How is a swing shipped?
Each swing is made to order and ships boxed with the seat, rope or chain, and all hardware packed together. Tracking is sent the day it leaves.
What do I hang it from, and how much weight will it hold?
Structure, always — a porch beam, an exposed rafter, or a ceiling joist found with a stud finder, using rated eye bolts or a swing-hanger kit. Never drywall anchors. Into solid framing, the teak frame and rated hardware carry two adults; check the listed piece weight before install and plan on a second set of hands. If your porch ceiling is finished flat and the joists are hidden, support@timbervintique.com can walk you through finding them.
Can it live outside year-round, and do I have to keep oiling it?
On a covered porch or patio, yes — teak's own oils and silica are the chemistry that kept it on ship decks for centuries. In full sun and rain it silvers in six to twelve months; the gray is paper-thin, and a light sanding brings the gold back, so both looks stay on the table. Skip hardware-store teak oil outdoors — it contains no oil from teak and can feed mildew. If you want it golden, one coat of teak sealer each spring, and check the hanging hardware while you are up there.
